Sophomore Jessica Partridge scored just 42 seconds into overtime to give the Lady Tigers their first victory of the season with a 10-9 win over Knoch at a cold and rainy evening at Newman Stadium on Wednesday night. Junior Brenna Curti and sophomore Carly Luitgaarden scored three goals each to pace NA. The Lady Tigers got off to a great start with two goals in the first 55 seconds of the game. Senior Emma Luitgaarden started the scoring with a hard shot from the left side to give NA a 1-0 lead. Emma then set up sister Carly from behind the Knoch net for the second Tiger goal. Knoch came back five minutes later on a goal from Paige Macadaeg to cut the margin to 2-1. NA answered as Emma Luitgaarden scored again from the left side to make it 3-1 with 17:41 remaining in the half. Curti followed with her first goal as she came out from behind the goal to beat Knoch goalie Nikkie Binnie as the Lady Tigers took a 4-1 lead. The Knights came back strong with three straight goals to tie the game. After a long run from midfield, Krissy Harbison scored on a low shot to cut the margin to 4-2. Macadaeg then converted on a free position attempt to make it 4-3 with 12:19 remaining in the half. Macadaeg followed with a strong move down the middle to tie the game at 4-4. After an NA time out, junior Kellie Roach made an outstanding individual move down the left side and scoring after a good fake in front of the net as the Lady Tigers regained the lead at 5-4 with 8:24 left. After Harbison's second goal from in front of the NA net tied the game, Carly Luitgaarden put NA back ahead, 6-5, and she circled from behind the net and scored on a high shot with 2:22 left. Jamie Antoszyk had the answer for the Knights as she raced across the middle to tie the game again with 1:10 remaining. Junior Anna Koebley made a good centering pass to Curti late in the half, and the Tiger junior scored on a strong overhand shot with 14 seconds left to give NA a 7-6 advantage they took to the intermission. The defense for both teams picked up the pressure early in the second half as neither team could score over the first nine minutes. Sophomore goalie Nia Parillo held off the Knights with several key saves to keep the Lady Tigers in the lead. At the 9:14 mark, the Knights Macadaeg broke the scoring draught with a goal after a long run from midfield to tie the game at 7-7. Fifteen seconds later, Curti put NA back on top as she stole the ball and raced in to score. With 11:30 left, it appeared that Emma Luitgaarden had scored to give the Lady Tigers a two-goal advantage, but the goal was negated because Luitgaarden was called for being in the goalie crease. NA held the lead until just 4:40 remained in the half. Again it Macadaeg making the big play for the Knights as she stole the ball at midfield and sent a long pass to Antoszyk who scored from in front of the goal. A little over a minute later, Macadaeg broke free down the middle and scored to give Knoch a 9-8 lead with 3:27 remaining. The Knights took possession and it looked like they would run out the remaining time. Curti has other ideas, however, as she made a great steal at midlfield and sent a long pass to Carly Luitgaarden who broke in to tie the game with just 14 seconds left. Time ran out in regulation and the game went into overtime. Early in the overtime period, Emma Luitgaarden broke across the middle and drew a foul setting up a free position shot. The shot went wide, but the Lady Tigers retained possession. Partridge then brought the ball out from behind the goal, faked to her right and then launched the game winner. It was a great effort by the Lady Tigers who battled from behind late to tie the game. The Lady Tigers turned up the defensive pressure in the second half allowing just three goals. Parillo was outstanding in the net for NA as she made a number of key saves allowing the Lady Tigers the chance for the overtime victory. For her efforts, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Nia Parillo as the Player of the Game. With the win, the overall NA record improved to 1-2 in the early season. The Lady Tigers will complete non-section play tomorrow night when they host Bethel Park at Newman Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 pm GAME SUMMARY

It was a good offensive effort by the Lady Tigers but the NA defense had problems stopping Deems and the Scherer sisters from scoring in close.
