CHEERLEADERS

MINI-CAMP A SUCCESS!

This year's Cheerleader Mini-Camp was held from June 15-19 at NAI.  Over 200 campers were taught cheers, chants, dances, tumbling and stunting by the North Allegheny Cheerleaders and their coaches.  All of the girls had a great time and learned so much too!  We would like to thank everyone for attending and for all of the wonderful parent volunteers who helped make Mini-Camp such a huge success!

NA VARSITY CHEERLEADERS PLACE 18TH AT UCA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2009 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships were held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This competition is the largest and most prestigious event of the season for high school cheerleading teams. Both the North Allegheny Varsity and Junior Varsity squads had qualified for this competition which involved more than 400 teams from every region of the country.

The NA Varsity competed in the "Large Division". The categories are determined by the size of the respective teams. This was the division that involved the most schools, 66 in number. The Varsity Girls performed extremely well in both the Preliminary and Semi-Final rounds to ultimately be one of only 20 teams selected to participate in the Final Round. The final round was intense and exciting, with only a couple points separating teams from 1-20. The varsity girls are thrilled, and justifiably proud, to have finished in 18th place.

The Junior Varsity competed in the very strong "Small Junior Varsity Division". They performed very well and are hopeful that the experience will serve them well next year as they set their goals to qualify and place in this national event.

You can watch the performances of both teams at this link....

NORTH ALLEGHENY CHEERLEADERS ARE NATIONAL BOUND!

The NA Jr. Varsity and Varsity Cheerleaders competed on Saturday, December 6th at Slippery Rock University for a chance at a bid to the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship.  Not only did both teams qualify, but both teams placed first in their respective divisions.

JV Cheerleaders

The JV team competed against one other team in the Junior Varsity category and scored high enough to earn a bid to Nationals.  They hit a clean routine overall and got positive feedback from the judges.  They were rewarded for their strong tumbling and great performance in their dance.  The JV girls did an outstanding job this weekend and will be headed to Orlando in February to compete in the Small JV category at Nationals!

Varsity Cheerleaders

The Varsity cheerleaders competed against 9 other teams in the Large Varsity category this weekend and automatically clinched their bid to Nationals by earning 1st place in this very competitive division.  Also, the NA Varsity girls were the TOP SCORING team of the entire event, essentially winning the "Grand Champion" of the competition as well.  The girls received outstanding comments regarding their pyramids and their crowd-effective cheer and look forward to taking the routine to the next level at Nationals.  This will be the 3rd year that the Varsity Cheerleaders will be competing at UCA High School Nationals and our goal is to make it to the final round again this year in hopes of placing in the Top 10 in the country.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH THE JV AND VARSITY CHEERLEADERS!
