Photo Courtesy of Coach Rittman DAVIS MISSES CUT BY ONE STROKE AT PIAA WESTERN REGIONALS Senior Jim Davis shot a 78 at the Tom's Run GC in Blairsville on Wednesday in the PIAA Western Qualifier. The cut for advancing to the PIAA championships was 77 with Davis missing a trip to the state finals by one stroke. Congratulations to Jim and the entire boys' golf team for a good season that included a section co-championship! PIAA WESTERN REGIONAL
QUALIFIER The top 22 players advanced to the PIAA championship on October 20-21 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort at York, PA.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS FINISH 6TH IN WPIAL SEMIFINALS The Tigers finished in 6th place in the WPIAL semifinals on Friday at Glengarry GC in Latrobe. Leading NA was senior Donny Lewis with a 78 with senior Nate Kreutzer one stroke back with a 79. Junior Mark Jackson shot an 82 with senior Jim Davis and junior Zack Wessel adding 83s. The top three teams advanced to the team championship as Peters Township was first, Belle Vernon second, and Central Catholic third. It was the first time in eight years that NA has not advanced to the finals. Senior Jim Davis will play in the PIAA Western Regional at Tom's Run GC in Blairsville on Wednesday. HILLS TO Senior Jim Davis shot an even par 35 in the rain at Diamond Run on Wednesday afternoon to lead the Tigers to a 198-206 victory over rival North Hills. Junior Zack Wessel added a 39 for the winning Tigers. Ryan Fichter recorded a one over 36 to pace North Hills. With the win, the Tigers completed their section play with a record of 12-2 and a tie with both North Hills and Seneca Valley for the section title. The overall NA record improved to 13-4. The team semifinals are scheduled to begin on Friday. The WPIAL Committee is meeting today to set the pairings. As soon as they are available, we will post them. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * DAVIS FINISHES 7TH IN WPIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Senior Jim Davis shot a three over 75 to finish in a tie for seventh place in the WPIAL Individual Championships at Diamond Run on Tuesday. Davis qualified for the PIAA Western Regional to be held at Tom's Run GC in Blairsville next Wednesday. Davis had a great finish with a chip in for par on 16, an eagle at 17, and a long putt for par on the 18th. Senior Nate Kreutzer missed the cut at 80 with a score of 84. The Tiger team will meet rival North Hills in the final section match of the season. If NA wins, they will tie for the section title and advance to the team playoffs on Friday. In the Tigers lose, they will finish in third place and out of the playoffs. WPIAL INDIVIDUAL

* - alternate * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS BEST BUTLER, 191-208 Senior Jim Davis recorded a one under 34 to lead the Tigers to a 191-208 victory over Butler at Butler Country Club on Friday afternoon. Junior Jake Wrigley shot a 37 and senior Byron Doll a 39 for the winning Tigers. Anthony Lewis and Antonio Boroffio both had 40s to pace the Tornado. With the win, the Tigers improved their section record to 11-2, the overall mark to 12-4. Seniors Jim Davis and Nate Kreutzer will be competing in the WPIAL Championship at Diamond Run on Tuesday. Kreutzer will tee off at 9:00 am with Davis starting play at 11:00 am. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * DAVIS LEADS ALL QUALIFIERS IN WPIAL SEMIFINAL Senior Jim Davis shot a three over 75 to lead all qualifiers in the WPIAL semifinal at the par 72 Seven Oaks course on Wednesday. Senior Nathan Kreutzer shot an 82 and had to win a one-hole playoff to qualify. Seniors Byron Doll and Donny Lewis both shot 83s to fall just one stroke short. Junior Zack Wessel recorded an 89 to finish out of the qualifiers. Davis and Kreutzer advanced to the WPIAL final that will be held at Diamond Run GC next Tuesday with tee off time set for 9:00 am. The Tiger team will travel to Butler tomorrow afternoon for a 3:30 pm section match with the Tornado. WPIAL SEMIFINAL
* - won one-hole playoff * * * * * * * * * * * * * * CENTRAL CATHOLIC TOPS TIGERS, 194-204 Central Catholic defeated the Tigers, 194-204, in a non-section match at Edgewood CC on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Jim Davis and junior Zack Wessel both shot 39s to pace NA. Spencer Mellon posted a 38 to lead the Vikings. With the loss, the overall NA record dropped to 10-4 on the season. Five Tigers are competing in the WPIAL Individual semifinals today at Seven Oaks. Seniors Jim Davis, Donny Lewis, Nate Kreutzer, and Byron Doll, along with junior Zack Wessel will be attempting to advance to the WPIAL Individual Final. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * SENECA VALLEY STOPS TIGERS, 186-192 The Tigers traveled to Cranberry Highlands GC on Thursday afternoon and suffered a 186-192 defeat at the hands of the Seneca Valley Raiders. Seniors Donny Lewis and Jim Davis led NA with even par 35s, but it was not enough to defeat the Raiders. Mike McNulty paced SV with a one under 34. The loss dropped the NA section record to 9-2, the overall mark to 10-3. The Tigers will travel to Edgewood CC on Tuesday afternoon to meet Central Catholic in a non-section match. Tee off time is set for 4:00 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS EDGE PINE-RICHLAND, 190-193 Senior Byron Doll shot a one over 36 to lead the Tigers to a 190-193 victory over Pine-Richland at Diamond Run on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Nate Kreutzer and junior Mark Jackson added 37s for the winning Tigers. Ross Montanti posted a two under 33 to pace the Rams. With the win, NA improved their section record to 10-1, the overall mark to 11-2. The Tigers will travel to Seneca Valley this afternoon for a key section contest. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * FIVE TIGERS ADVANCE TO WPIAL SEMIFINALS Five Tiger golfers made the cut in the section qualifier at Highland CC on Tuesday afternoon and will advance to the WPIAL semifinals next week. Advancing were seniors Jim Davis, who led with an even par 70, Donny Lewis, Byron Doll and Nate Kreutzer along with junior Zack Wessel. Junior Mark Jackson just missed the cut with an 82. The Tiger team will host Pine-Richland this afternoon at Diamond Run. Tee off time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. WPIAL DIVISION I SECTION

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS NAIL NEW CASTLE, 206-223 The Tigers traveled to Sylvan Heights GC in New Castle on Thursday afternoon and defeated the Red Hurricanes, 206-223. Seniors Nate Kreutzer and Byron Doll both shot 40s to claim medalist honors for the Tigers. Junior Zack Wessel was close behind with a 41. Boo Rapko had a 40 for the 'Canes. With the win, NA improved to 9-1 in section, 10-2 overall. Next up for the Tigers will be the section tournament on Tuesday at Highland Country Club. Representing NA will be seniors Jim Davis, Byron Doll, Nate Kreutzer and Donny Lewis along with juniors Zack Wessel and Mark Jackson. GOOD LUCK, TIGERS!!! JV UPDATE:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * 2008 WPIAL BOYS' GOLF The Tigers will compete again in Division I of the WPIAL along with 59 other teams. The top two teams and ties for second place in each section will enter the team championship semi-finals on October 14, 2008. If two teams tie for second place but one of the teams has lost both head-to-head contests, that team will not enter the tournament round. Three way ties will be broken in the following manner: 1. Section records
of the tied teams will be compiled. In 2008/09, the WPIAL will not participate in the PIAA Team Tournament. The format for boys' golf is a team comprised of six golfers who play for a combined team total medal score for the day. Only the top five scores will count to determine the team winner for the match. This format is in effect for all team matches. In case of a tie in the total medal scores, each coach will choose two players to represent their squad in a two-hole playoff with the twosome shooting the lowest combined score winning. If there is still a tie after the two-hole playoff, the players will play "sudden death" extra holes until the tie is broken. INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The WPIAL Individual Championship will be contested by qualifying players representing member schools. Each player must follow the approved qualifying process in order to qualify for the championship. Each section qualifier will be comprised of six players from each section team. Players will advance from each sectional qualifier to the semifinal round by: 1. placing in the
top five scores including ties OR * - The golf steering committee will determine the course rating, target score, distance, and tees to be played and notify each sectional manager of this information. Each semi-final qualifier will consist of qualifiers from each of the sixteen sectional tournaments. The semi-final round will be conducted on Monday, September 29, 2008 or Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at four different courses. The Individual Final Round will consist of forty-eight (48) contestants - the top twelve (12) from each semi-final round site. The Final Round will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at at course to be designated. The top twenty-four (24) contestants from the WPIAL Final Round will qualify for the Western PIAA Individual Qualifying Round with qualifiers from five other PIAA western districts on Monday, October 13, 208. The top twenty-two (22) contestants from the Western Regional Qualifying Round will qualify for the PIAA Championship finals at Heritage Hills Golf Course on October 20-21, 2008. 2008 BOYS' GOLF ALIGNMENT - DIVISION I: 60 TEAMS
