GIRLS' GOLF File Photo PEKINS FINISHES 27th AT WPIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Junior Jessica Pekins came in 27th at the WPIAL Championships at Valley Brook CC in McMurray. Nadia Luttner of Fox Chapel won the title with a 75 at the Par 72 course. The Lady Tiger team will travel to Seneca Valley this afternoon for a section match against the Raiders. Western Regional * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS EDGE HOPEWELL, 206-208 The Lady Tigers defeated Hopewell, 206-208, at Shadow Lakes CC on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Jessica Pekins led NA with a 47 with freshman Ryanne Tyler adding a 50 for the winning Lady Tigers. Pekins will represent NA in the WPIAL Championship Final tomorrow at Valleybrook CC in McMurray. Pekins' tee off time is set for 10:00 am. The Lady Tigers team will travel to Seneca Valley on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:00 pm section match. The Lady Tigers completed their season with a final record of seven wins and eleven losses. In section play, NA was 5-11 on the year. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * PEKINS QUALIFIES FOR FINAL ROUND Junior Jessica Pekins shot an 88 at Hiland CC in Butler on Tuesday afternoon to finish in seventh place in the Section 3 qualifier. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BLACKHAWK DEFEATS LADY TIGERS, 190-198 The Lady Tigers dropped a 190-198 decision at Blackhawk on Monday afternoon. Carol Kotermanski shot a 45 to pace NA with junior Jessica Pekins close behind with a 46. Next up for the Lady Tigers will be a match at Hopewell on Tuesday with tee off time set for 3:00 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS DOWN ELLWOOD CITY, 195-209 The Lady Tigers traveled to Del Mar Golf Club on Monday afternoon and came home with a 195-209 victory. Freshman Ryanne Tyler shot a 43 to pace NA to the victory. Jessica Pekins and Carol Kotermanski both shot 50s for the winning Lady Tigers. With the win, NA improved to 2-4 in section play. The Lady Tigers will host Butler on Thursday afternoon at Highland CC with tee off time set for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY

Carol Kotermanski led NA with a 48 with freshman Ryanne Tyler second with a 51. The loss dropped the NA section record to 1-4 on the year. Leading the way for NA was Carol Kotermanski with a 49 with freshman Ryanne Tyler posting a 52. The Lady Tigers will host Hopewell on Wednesday afternoon as section play continues. Leading NA were Ryanne Tyler with a 45, Rachel Briggs with a 50 and Carol Kotermanski with a 51. NA will host Blackhawk this afternoon as section play continues. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ELLWOOD CITY TOPS LADY TIGERS IN Ellwood City defeated the Lady Tigers, 207-213, at Highland CC in the section opener. Sophomore Tara Broderick led NA with a 47 followed by freshman Ryenne Tyler with a 53 and junior Jessica Pekins with a 54. The loss gave NA a record of 0-1 in section play.

PETERS The Lady Tigers opened their 2008 season at the Peters Township Invitational held at Frosty Valley GC on Monday morning. NA came in fifth with Upper St. Clair taking the title with the host Lady Indians second. The Lady Tigers will begin section play on Thursday when they host Ellwood City at Highland Country Club. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 2008 WPIAL GIRLS' GOLF The Lady Tigers will compete again in the WPIAL along with 30 other teams. The alignment in a one-division system for team play. The top two teams and ties for second place from each section will enter the team championship on October 16, 2008. If two teams tie for second place but one of the teams has lost both head-to-head contests, that team will not enter the championship round. Three way ties will be broken in the following manner: 1. Section records
of the tied teams will be compiled. A team champion and runner-up will be declared. In 2008/2009, the WPIAL will not participate in the PIAA Team Tournament. The format for girls' golf is a team comprised of five golfers who play for a combined team total medal score for the day. Only the top four scores will count to determine the team winner for the match. This format in in effect for all team matches. All teams must field a minimum of four players. Failure to field four players will result in a forfeit victory for the opponent, provided they have at least five players ready to play. In case of a tie in the total medal score, each coach will choose two players to represent their squad in a two-hole playoff with the twosome shooting the lowest combined score winning. If there is still a tie after the two-hole playoff, the players will play "sudden death" extra holes until the tie is broken. INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The WPIAL individual Championship will be contested by qualifying players representing member schools. Each player must follow the approved qualifying process in order to qualify for the championship. Each sectional qualifier will be comprised of five (5)players from each section team. Each sectional qualifier will be hosted at one of the section courses. Players will advance from each sectional qualifier to the final round by: 1. placing in the
top five scores including ties OR * - The golf steering committee will determine the course rating, target score, distance, and tees to be played and notify each sectional manager of this information. The Individual Final Round will consist of all qualifiers from the sectional tournaments. The Final Round will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008, at a course to be designated and will be managed by members of the Golf Committee. The top twelve (12) contestants from the WPIAL Final Round will qualify for the Western PIAA Individual Qualifying Round with qualifiers from five other PIAA western districts on Monday, October 13, 2008. The top eleven (11) contestants from the Western Regional Qualifying Round will qualify for the PIAA Championship finals at Heritage Hills Golf Course on October 20-21, 2008. 2008 GIRLS' GOLF ALIGNMENT - 31 TEAMS
