NA Grabs 8th Place at Elizabethtown Brawl

The North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team traveled east on Sunday for the Elizabethtown BAGUBA Brawl and came away with an eighth-place showing. The Tigers finished with 88 team points to take eighth among 24 teams at the event.

The Tigers crowned one individual champion as senior Leyna Rumpler claimed gold at 155 pounds. In the title bout, Rumpler earned a win by fall over Miriam Westfort of South Western.

At 142 pounds, senior Audrey Morrison reached the title bout and earned a silver medal with a 3-1 performance at the tournament.

Earning a fifth-place medal was junior Maya Scott with a 5-3 decision over Lauren Vertuli of Carlisle. Seventh-place medals were claimed by sophomores Anna Kovacic (124) and Ava Thayer (142). Kovacic won by forfeit over Kate Lalley of South Western and Thayer picked up a win by fall over Abril Guerrero of Gettysburg in their respective seventh-place bouts.
