NA Gymnasts Open Season With Win Over Moon
The North Allegheny gymnastics team opened the season on Thursday night with an impressive win, defeating the three-time reigning WPIAL champion Moon Tigers, 137.25-136.25. The victory also served as a measure of revenge from last season as Moon narrowly edged NA in the WPIAL championship.
Senior Danijela Jergan paced North Allegheny in all-around scoring with a 35.85. Jergan tallied team highs on the bars and beam with scores of 9.425 and 9.375, respectively. Annie Haywood had a strong performance with team bests in the vault and floor competitions. Haywood notched a 9.2 on the vault and 9.35 on the floor, piecing together an all-around score of 34.4. North Allegheny returns to action on Friday night with a road meet at Fox Chapel. Start time is set for 7:00 pm.
