2020-2021 Game Summaries
The North Allegheny gymnastics team returned to action on Friday night and turned in a third-place showing in a quad meet with Thomas Jefferson, Baldwin and Fox Chapel. The Jaguars took first place with a score of 141.55, followed by the Highlanders (123.3), Tigers (122.15) and Foxes (81.3).
Junior Gena Chick provided a strong all-around performance, posting the top score in the floor event (8.5) and tying for the team lead on the beam (8.1) with teammate Marsha Dudina. Leading the Tigers in the vault event was freshman Jena Karlovits (8.75), and providing a team-high on the bars was freshman Gabbi Stegeman with a score of 7.75. North Allegheny returns to action on Tuesday with a home meet against Pine-Richland.
The North Allegheny gymnastics team returned to action on Tuesday night and dropped a 144.3-126.25 decision to the Moon Tigers.
Despite the loss, there were some great performances by a young NA squad. Freshman Jena Karlovitz led the team in the vault (8.65) and beam (8.25) events and posted a solid score of 8.0 in the floor event. Equaling Karlovitz’s score of 8.65 in the vault was freshman Marsha Dudina. Freshman Gabi Stegeman posted a team-high 7.95 on the bars, while the team’s lone upperclassmen, junior Gena Chick, paced the team in the floor event with an 8.45. North Allegheny sits at 0-2 on the season following the loss. The Lady Tigers will host Pine-Richland and Fox Chapel on Thursday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m at Jewart’s Gymnastics.
The North Allegheny gymnastics team hosted Central Valley in the season opener on Friday night. The Tigers fell to the Warriors by a 140.25-121.5 final.
Despite the loss, there were numerous strong performances by the Tigers. Freshman Jena Kalovits made an impressive varsity debut by leading the team in the vault (8.4), beam (8.4) and floor events (8.35). Fellow freshman Gabbi Stegeman paced the team on the bars with a team-high 7.85 and posted a solid 8.15 on the vault. The lone upperclassman on the roster, junior Gena Chick, provided leadership and contributed with an 8.25 in the floor event and an 8.05 on the vault. For a full look at NA’s scoresheet, click here.
