Tigers Take Part In WPIAL Championships

The North Allegheny gymnastics team took part in the WPIAL championships this weekend at Moon High School. On Friday night, Moon defended its WPIAL crown and won its eighth WPIAL title overall.
On Saturday, the WPIAL individual championships were held and there were several outstanding performances from NA gymnasts. Junior Sophie Aglietti dazzled in the floor event with a score of 9.1. Sophomore Juliet Hood was spectacular on the beam with a score of 9.175 and added an 8.375 on the bars. Freshman Julia Fortunato was impressive in the vault event with a score of 8.675.
A steady all-around was delivered by junior Gabbi Stegeman with a total score of 33.15. Junior Jena Karlovits posted an all-around of 31.85 and freshman Sarah DeJonckheere added an all-around of 31.625. Additional NA scores are listed below.
North Allegheny concludes an impressive 2022-2023 season. Congratulations to head coach Nicole Bova and the entire team for a terrific season.

NA Gymnasts Take 2nd Place In Final Meet of Regular Season

In the final meet of the regular season, the North Allegheny gymnastics team took second place in a quad meet at Jewarts Gymnastics. Pine-Richland prevailed with a team score of 140.8, followed by North Allegheny (134.1), Fox Chapel (124.9) and North Hills (87.95).
Junior Sophie Aglietti helped lead the charge for the Lady Tigers by posting team highs in the vault (9.1), bars (8.2) and floor (9.25) events. Sophomore Juliet Hood was the team’s top performer on the beam with a score of 8.5. Other strong efforts were delivered by junior Emma Flanders in the vault (8.9), junior Jena Karlovitz on the beam (8.4) and junior Gabbi Stegeman in the floor (8.75) event. It was also senior night for the Tigers and NA honored its only senior before the meet, Lily Grbach.
North Allegheny improves to 5-3 on the season and will prepare of the WPIAL team and individual championship on Feb. 10-11 at Moon High School.
Tigers Perform Well In Competitive Tri-Meet

The North Allegheny gymnastics team hosted a tri-meet on Thursday against Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson at Jewarts Gymnastics. Baldwin won the tri-meet with a score of 138.5, followed by Thomas Jefferson (135.45) and North Allegheny (135.1).
The Tigers competed well in a hotly contested affair with an outstanding performance delivered by junior Gabbi Stegeman on the bars (7.85) and beam events (8.75). Junior Sophie Aglietti dazzled in the vault event with a team-high score of 9.45. Junior Juliet Hood paced the team in the floor competition with an 8.95. For a look at all scores, click here.
North Allegheny sits at 3-2 on the season and will take part in a Senior Night quad-meet on Thursday, Jan. 19 against Fox Chapel, North Hills and Pine-Richland.
NA Gymnasts Take Down Hopewell

The North Allegheny gymnastics team picked up another early-season victory on Thursday night with a 137.65-132.55 win over Hopewell.
Junior Sophie Aglietti helped lead the Tigers to the win with top performances in the vault (9.2) and floor (8.85) events. Sophomore Juliet Hood paced the team on the bars (9.3) and beam (8.9) events. Impressive performances were also delivered by Emma Flanders in the vault (8.9) and Gabbi Stegeman on the beam (8.85).
Hopewell’s Meghan Kelly was the top gymnast for the Vikings with team-high scores in the vault (9.1), bars (9.1) and floor (9.4) events. For a full look at scoring from Thursday night’s meet, click here.
North Allegheny improves to 3-0 on the season and will host a tri-meet against Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson on Thursday, Jan. 12.
NA Gymnasts Claim Top Spot In Season Opener

The North Allegheny gymnastics team opened the 2022-2023 season with a tri-meet sweep over the Burrell Bucs and North Hills Indians on Thursday night. The Tigers led the way with a team score of 131.15, followed by North Hills with a score of 121.55, and Burrell took third place with a 118.7. With a deep and talented roster, North Allegheny also had a secondary team compete, who finished with a score of 90.95.
Juniors Gabi Stegeman and Sophie Aglietti spearheaded the victory for the Tigers. Stegeman paced the team in the bars (8.1) and beam (8.6) competitions. Aglietti topped the list for NA in the vault (9.3) and floor (9.1) events. Freshman Julia Fortunato gave a dazzling performance in the vault with a score of 9.1. Sophomore Juliet Hood was also impressive with a score of 8.0 on the beam and 8.15 in the floor event.
