NA Takes 2nd Place, Three Crowned Champions At Blue Devils Winter Classic

The Lady Tigers traveled south to Mt. Lebanon to compete at the Blue Devils Girls Winter Classic on Saturday. They finished in second place with 157 points. Hickory finished first with 195 points.

The Lady Tigers were led by four finalists. At 142, senior Audrey Morrison recorded three first period falls to reach the finals. In the finals, she battle back from an early deficit and pinned WPIAL No. 3-ranked Anastasia Manchester of Butler in 3:56.

Junior Maya Scott picked up three falls of her own on her way to the finals. She lost her finals bout by fall to Contessa Cotelesse of Laurel.

At 155, senior Leyna Rumpler secured two falls on her way to the finals, including one over WPIAL No. 2 Imani Cameron-Botti of Connellsville. Her finals match was against No. 23 Nationally-ranked and No. 1 State-ranked Avry Ryhal of Hickory. Rumpler used a first period takedown and a second period reversal to claim the title, 4-2.

Concluding the night was junior Kaylee Dean at 235. She locked up the fall over WPIAL No. 2-ranked Zoey Murphy of Southmoreland in 1:09 in the finals for her third first period fall of the day.

Four other Lady Tigers placed as well. Sophomore Ava Frailey (170) finished fourth with two falls. Senior Hannah Williams finished fifth with three wins. Finishing in sixth place was junior Brenna Collery (136) with three falls and freshman Heidi Radford (190) with one fall.

North Allegheny will travel to take on Seneca Valley for a dual meet on Wednesday January 17 at 7:00 pm.
