Tigers Bring Home Team Title At NA Duals
The North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team hosted the North Allegheny Girls Duals Tournament on Saturday. The tournament featured four of the top eight teams in the WPIAL. The Lady Tigers posted a 5-0 record to bring home the Team Title. Trinity finished as Runner-up with a 4-1 record.The Lady Tigers opened the day with a 42-27 win over Mount Lebanon. In the second round, they defeated #6 ranked Trinity 48-30. The Lady Tigers then topped Pine-Richland 51-18 in the third round. The fourth round featured No. 4-ranked Seneca Valley, which the Lady Tigers prevailed 47-30. The fifth and final round was against out-of-state foe, Steubenville, OH. After the first seven bouts, North Allegheny held a lead of 30-9. Both teams traded falls in the next two matches to extend the lead to 36-15. However, Steubenville would respond with three straight wins to bring the score to 36-33, North Allegheny, entering the final bout. Senior Hannah Williams closed the door on any thoughts of an upset with a fall in just 40 seconds over Steubenville’s Angela Bailey, giving the Lady Tigers a 42-33 win.Five Lady Tigers went 5-0 on the day. Seniors Audrey Morrison and Williams both collected falls in all five of their victories. Junior Brenna Collery had four falls on the day. Senior Leyna Rumpler finished with three falls and a technical fall. Junior Kaylee Deanmalso recorded three falls on the day.Another great performance was delivered by Sophomore Ava Frailey, going 4-1 with two falls. Junior Bella Cuomo and freshman Heidi Radford both picked up three wins on the day.
