Tigers Drop First Meet Of Season At Canon-McMillan

Posted on:

In a battle between No. 1 and No.2 in the WPIAL on Tuesday night, the North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team dropped a 60-18 decision to the top-ranked Canon-McMillan Big Macs.

The Big Macs, also ranked No. 1 in the state and 13th in the country by USA Wrestling, remained undefeated against teams from Pennsylvania with the win. CM benefited from four forfeits and added six wins by fall.

However, North Allegheny showed glimpses of why it is considered the 10th-ranked team in Pennsylvania as well. From 142 through 155, the Tigers rattled off three consecutive pin falls courtesy of Audrey Morrison (142), Maya Scott (148) and Leyna Rumpler (155). The 18 points was the most scored against the Big Macs by an WPIAL team and second most among teams from Pennsylvania (Cumberland Valley – 30).

The loss is North Allegheny’s first on the season and drops the Tigers to 7-1 overall. Canon-McMillan improves to 12-1 overall, with their only loss against competition outside of the state. NA looks to regroup and will compete in the Lady Raiders Invitational at Columbia High School in Ohio on Saturday.
