Tigers Roll Over Rams, 5-0

The North Allegheny girls’ tennis team extended its winning streak to nine straight with a 5-0 sweep of Pine-Richland on Monday afternoon.

The Tigers rolled to victories in singles action, with freshman Nora Catanzarite leading the way with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Ellie Stokes at No. 1 singles. Senior Ella Sinciline picked up a win over Meghan Wilson, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Jenny Zhu defeated Katelyn Terchek, 6-1, 6-2.

The Rams provided greater resistance in doubles play, but the Tigers remained triumphant in both matches. At No. 1 doubles, Claire Shao and Emily Wincko overcame a 6-2 loss in set one to Gabriella Pasqualveci and Catherine Lee by winning the next two sets by decisions of 6-0, 6-1, respectively. Abby Swirsding and Ashley Chung rounded out the sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 2 doubles over Rebecca Peng and Lilly Stokes.

North Allegheny improves to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the section. The Tigers host Butler on Tuesday in another section contest.
