Tigers Start Season With Tournament Title At Butler Invite
The North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team opened the 2023-2024 season on Saturday with a first-place performance at the Butler Invitational. The Tigers took home the tournament championship with 126 team points and two individual champions.
Senior Audrey Morrison pinned Kaitlyn Plopi of Butler in the title bout at 142 pounds to claim tournament gold. In similar fashion, junior Kaylee Dean pinned Daelyn Norris of Trinity at 235 pounds to bring home another individual championship for the Tigers. Both Morrison went 4-0 and Dean went 2-0 at the tournament.
Earning silver medals were sophomore Sophia Folks (148) and senior Leyna Rumpler (155) in their respective weight classes. Folks posted a 3-1 record and Rumpler was 2-1 at the tournament.
Fourth-place medals were earned by senior Hannah Williams (118) and junior Maya Scott (148). For complete results from the Butler Invitational, click here.
