Tigers clinch section title; defeat North Hills

The Ladies of the Match honors rest with the entire North Allegheny Girls Tennis Team who clinched their sixth straight Section 2-3A championship crown with a win over their neighboring rivals, the North Hills Indians, 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to an unblemished section record (8-0) in 2026, the North Hills victory marked the 46th straight section win for the Lady Tigers and their 11th consecutive overall victory in the current campaign.
Freshman Winni Hayward, sophomore Sammy Leeman, and junior Mia Kaufman compiled straight-set victories in one, two, and three singles respectively. Second doubles saw senior Remi Hayward and junior Medha Thirumala lose just one game in their two-set win. The first doubles tandem of sophomore Ruoxi Bai and freshman Sophia Yu followed suit to complete the team scoring.
The Tigers improve to 13-1 overall on the season (8-0 in section play) and continue team play next Monday at home in an exhibition match against Franklin Regional. In the meantime, the Section 2 Doubles Tournament will take place Wednesday and Thursday on the NASH courts. Representing the Tigers, junior tri-captain Mia Kaufman will join forces with sophomore tri-captain Sammy Leeman for the first team. The second team will be the combo of senior tri-captain Remi Hayward and junior Medha Thirumala. Good luck, Tigers!
