North Hills started with a 2-0 lead and held a 3-2 advantage halfway through the first quarter, but that’s when North Allegheny turned on the jets, scoring ten unanswered goals to cruise to a 16-9 win in their section finale.

Down two, Madelyn Lemmon and Isla Abrams score to tie the game. Duquesne-bound senior Abigail Krogmann put the Indians in front, before Avery Anderson, Reagan Riordan and Abrams rounded out the first quarter, with the Tigers in front 5-3.

The second quarter was all North Allegheny. Anderson netted her second goal at 3:06. Then the sophomore Riordan took over, scoring three straight goals in just over 3 minutes. Abrams completed the hat trick and Lemmon added her second goal, and the Tigers led 11-3 at halftime.

Sarah Harlan finished the ten-goal spurt early in the third quarter. Krogmann then took over, with three straight tallies to make the score 12-6. The North Hills senior ended up with seven goals on the evening. Anderson got her hat trick and 20th goal of the season before the Indians scored twice to make the score 13-8 after three quarters.

Lemmon earned her hat trick early in the fourth quarter before Riordan added her fifth goal of the game. Abrams, whose goal to end the first quarter came with no time remaining, ended the game with her fourth goal as the final seconds ticked off the game clock.

Anderson, the Grove City commit, added an assist with her hat trick, and senior Izzie Trunzo finished with twelve saves for the victorious Tigers.

Among the many candidates for the Wright Automotive Player of the Game, it was Isla Abrams who was awarded the honor, scoring four goals, adding four assists, and winning 9 draw controls.

The win was big for North Allegheny (5-6, 5-4), as they secured fourth place in 3A Section 2. North Hills (7-6, 5-4) is tied with the Tigers, and Seneca Valley could also end up with a (5-4) section record. But North Allegheny beat both teams, which gives them the tiebreaker.

North Allegheny is off until next Thursday when they visit Hempfield, before returning home on May 3 for Senior Night when they host Quaker Valley.
