Four Tigers Land All-Section Honors
Four members of the North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team have earned WPIAL All-Section laurels for the 2023 season, including two first-team honorees.
First-team accolades in Section 2-AAA went to senior midfielder Leigh Failla and junior midfielder Isla Abrams. Failla was the team leader in scoring with 45 goals and was a unanimous first-team selection. Abrams finished third on the squad with 28 goals and surpassed the 100-goal plateau for her career in a 10-5 win over Peters Township on May 11.
Earning second-team laurels were junior goalie Izzie Trunzo and senior defender Becka Oates. With countless acrobatic saves during the season, Trunzo posted a team-high 151 stops on the season. The combination of Trunzo and Oates provided a fortress around the North Allegheny net and helped tally the team’s first shutout 13 years on March 22 during a 15-0 victory against Freeport. Oates also scored six goals during the 2023 season and finished with 15 for her career.
