Girls Wrestling places fourth at Pine-Richland Ram Slam
North Allegheny took the short trip to Pine-Richland High School to participate in the Pine-Richland Ram Slam on Saturday. The Tigers had four girls place in the top six, and as a team finished in fourth place out of 37 teams. Fort LeBoeuf claimed the team title, 25 points ahead of NA.
Lorelei Bungard and Heidi Radford each had fourth-place finishes for North Allegheny.
Bungard got a bye in the first round before pinning Tehilah Daugherty from Franklin Regional in the second round. Bungard would pick up another pin in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals, putting her in the third-place match. Bungard would get pinned by Butler’s Anastasia Manchester to finish the day in fourth place.
Radford also received a first-round bye and picked up a pin in her second round match. After pinning Thomas Worthington’s (OH) Lilly Majors, Radford dropped her semifinal match to get to the third-place match. In the third-place match, Radford was tripped up by Charlotte Paladin of Shaler to end up in fourth.
Tapanga Bornt and Carly O’Connell both finished the day in fifth place.
Bornt started in the second round and got a pin against Redbank Valley’s Breanna Crawford. Bornt fell in her quarterfinal match but picked up back-to-back pins in the consolation bracket to get to the fifth-place match. In the fifth-place match, Bornt defeated Isabella Martinez from Valley by a 2-0 decision.
O’Connell had a battle on her hands after dropping her second round match to Ava Diulus of the host Rams. O’Connell picked up four straight pins in the consolation bracket to put herself in the fifth-place match. O’Connell dominated the fifth-place match beating Fox Chapel’s Emma Srodes by major decision (14-0) to claim fifth place.
Aleigha Revelant finished the day with a 4-2 record. Sally Horton ended up 3-2. Addison Urschler, Ava Anthony and Kaelyn Fraley went 2-2 while Mia Maxwell, Anna Svoboda and Anna Kovacic all went 1-2. Suela Raci, Gabriella Molina, Izabella Harrison, Reagan Root, Shanmukha Gannavaram and Kait Roy also competed in the tournament.

North Allegheny will be off until Saturday, January 3 when they host the North Allegheny Duals at UPMC Court. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
