(1/16/22) The North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team traveled to Gettysburg to compete in the 2nd Annual Gettysburg Girls Duals Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Tigers were also joined by a few wrestlers from Athens and Kiski. The Tigers went 2-1 on the day, led by sophomore Leyna Rumpler going undefeated.

The Tigers started the day wrestling a team comprised of Lancaster McCaskey, Manheim Township, and Annville-Cleona. Junior Hannah Williams started the match off with a pin and the Lady Tigers never looked back, winning 57-15. Junior Callie Rautenbach, sophomores Audrey Morrison and Rumpler, and freshmen Brenna Collery all won by fall. Freshmen Maya Scott and Kaylee Dean also came away with victories by decision.

The next match was against a very tough Governor Mifflin team. In a back-and-forth match early on, Rumpler was up 8-0 before winning by injury default. That brought the Tigers within three points, trailing 24-27. However, that would be the closest they would get as Governor Mifflin prevailed 57-39.

In the final match of the day, the Lady Tigers took on Cumberland Valley/Exeter. Williams started the match off again with another pin. Senior Taylor Stover won by pin to put the Tigers up 18-0 and they continued to roll for the win, 70-30. Also winning by fall were Rautenbach, Collery, Rumpler and Morrison.

The Lady Tigers are in action again on Saturday at the Wright Automotive Tournament at North Allegheny Intermediate at 9:00 a.m.
