NA Cruises To WPIAL Opening Round Win Over Baldwin
The North Allegheny girls’ tennis team opened the 2023 WPIAL playoffs on Monday afternoon with a 5-0 sweep of the Baldwin Highlanders.
The second-seeded Tigers cruised past the 15th-seeded Fighting Highlanders with dominant performances across the board. In singles play, Sara Fernandez, Laeticia Wessel and Peyton Mauser all coasted to victories. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Tia Soussou and Audrey Zheng tallied a 6-1, 6-0, win over Kameron Lucy and Alayna Kircher. The No. 2 pairing of Siya Jain and Rebecca Murphy notched a 6-1, 6-0, triumph over Emily Nowicki and Julia Johnson.
North Allegheny improves to 16-1 overall and advances to the WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinals on Wednesday.
