NA opens year with 5-3 win over Shaler

The NA Inline Tigers kicked off their season with a win over the Shaler Area Titans by a score of 5-3 on Sunday at the RMU Island Sports Center.
The Tigers were first to strike in the opening period with an unassisted goal by junior Marcus Garcia. The Titans answered back to tie the game but it was Garcia again scoring, assisted by senior Matthew Noffsinger to close out the frame leading 2-1.
While holding the Titans scoreless in the second period, the offense continued for the Tigers with a goal by sophomore Nathan Johnson off of a heads-up pass from junior Christian Mark. The Tigers added a goal from senior Liam Huey, assisted by Garcia to close out the period with a 4-1 Tiger lead.
The final period saw the Titans give an offensive push adding two goals of their own and cutting the Titan deficit to 4-3. The Tigers responded with one final goal on the day from Garcia, assisted by sophomore Adam Cameron and thus posting their first win of the season with a 5-3 victory.
Junior goalie Connor Greenberg earns his first win as the Tiger as their record begins at 1-0. The Tigers will resume play next Sunday at 12:00 pm against the Butler Golden Tornado at the RMU Island Sports Center.
