Tigers Best Mt. Lebanon In WPIAL Title Rematch
In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL championship, the end result was exactly the same as North Allegheny vanquished the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils, 5-0. The title tilt a year ago was much closer than Thursday’s contest as the Lady Tigers cruised to the win.
NA dominated singles play with sweeps by Ava Catanzarite, Ashley Huang and Rebekah Rest. Carolyn Tsung and Claire Shao defeated Casey Gannon and Lauren Carey at No. 1 doubles, 2-6, 6-0, 10-7. The outcome was similar at No. 2 doubles as the NA duo of Katherine Ambrose and Riya Yadav topped Eliza Georgiades and Katie Ward by a 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 decision.
North Allegheny improves to 2-0 on the young season and will host Moon in the first section contest of the campaign on Monday afternoon.
