Tigers Claw Past Jaguars, 5-0

Posted on:

The North Allegheny girls’ tennis team increased its winning streak to five in a row with a 5-0 sweep at Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers clawed past the Jaguars for the non-section win thanks in part to a pair of hard-fought efforts in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Siya Jain and Rebecca Murphy toppled Katie Onnett and Abby Dominick by a 6-4, 6-2, final. The No. 2 doubles combo of Tia Soussou and Eileen Hu outlasted Addie Miles and Josie Griffiths for a 6-4, 7-5, triumph.

In singles play, Abbey Swirsding coasted to a 6-0, 6-1, win over Holly Hannon and Claire Zheng had little trouble with Adda Trbovich for a 6-1, 6-0, victory. Emily Wincko won by injury default over Christine Rossi at No. 1 singles.

North Allegheny jumps to 5-2 overall with the non-section win. Members of the tennis team will take part in the section singles tournament on Wednesday at NASH.
