Tigers come back from 5-0 deficit in PIRHL Class B Semifinals

The NA Inline Tigers defeated the Seneca Valley Raiders in a thrilling come-from-behind 7-6 OT win in the HS1B semi-final on Sunday at the RMU Island Sports Center.
The Raiders came out strong controlling the first period scoring two goals while holding the Tigers at bay and initiating a 2-0 lead.
The second period started out much the same with the Raiders scoring the first three goals of the frame, putting the Tigers at a 5-0 deficit before senior Matthew Noffsinger got the Tigers on the board with a goal, assisted by senior Stefan Craig. Adding to the Tiger tally was junior Marcus Garcia, assisted by junior Christian Mark closing out the second period with the Tigers down 5-2.
In the third period, it was the Tigers initiating the scoring, starting with a goal from junior Liam Huey assisted by sophomore Travis Herm, followed by a goal from Noffsinger, cutting the deficit to just one. The Raiders answered with a goal of their own taking a 6-4 lead, but the Tigers would stand strong with Mark scoring and putting the Tigers down 6-5. The Tigers proceeded to pull the goalie for the advantage and it was Mark finding the back of the net to tie the game at 6-6 and put the game into overtime.
In the overtime period after being down by five goals at one point, it was Mark scoring the game-winning goal giving the Tigers the 7-6 win.
Senior goalie Claudia Kushon earns the win as the Tigers record improves to 8-10-1. The Tigers will advance to the finals and play the Shaler Titans next Sunday at 1:00 PM at the RMU Island Sports Center in game 1 of a 3-game series for the HS1B Championship.
