Tigers get back on track with sweep of Franklin Regional
North Allegheny traveled to Franklin Regional on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Panthers in a non-section matchup. After getting their 13-match winning streak snapped yesterday against Shady Side Academy, the Tigers got back on track defeating Franklin Regional, 5-0.
It took three sets for Mia Kaufman to defeat Michelle Yan but she ultimately won 6-2, 5-7, 11-9. Samantha Leeman and Alexa Richey each won in two sets with Leeman winning 6-0, 6-1 and Richey taking her match 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles, Audrey Zheng and Rouxi Bai handled Anika Jadia and Avani Kulkarni in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1 at #1 doubles. Ella Mangene and Remi Hayward made quick work of Franklin Regional’s #2 doubles team winning 6-0, 6-0.
North Allegheny improves to 14-3 overall. Franklin Regional falls to 7-6. Kaufman, Leeman, Bai and Richey will be back in action tomorrow when they play in the WPIAL Doubles tournament held at North Allegheny with matches beginning at 11 a.m. North Allegheny as a team now await their playoff fate. The WPIAL Team playoffs will begin on October 7.
