Tigers Stay Unbeaten With Win At USC, 3-2

The North Allegheny girls’ tennis team continued their winning ways on Tuesday afternoon with a tough non-section at Upper St. Clair, 3-2.

Just two years removed from winning a WPIAL crown, the Panthers scratched out a pair of wins in doubles play but the Tigers were able to secure the victory by virtue of their success in singles action. At No. 1 singles, senior Laeticia Wessel cruised to a 6-0, 6-0, triumph over Catalina Ramirez. Sophomore Audrey Zheng earned a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Maya Hamade at No. 2 singles. Despite dropping set one, senior Tia Soussou showed great resiliency with by taking the next two sets against Isabella Zheng. Soussou won the critical No. 3 singles matchup with wins of 6-1 and 10-7 in the final two sets.

With the win, North Allegheny remains undefeated with a 4-0 overall record. The Tigers will return to section play on Wednesday with a visit to Shaler at 3:30 p.m.
