Tigers take sixth straight in shutout of Butler

North Allegheny returned home Thursday and spotted a Golden Tornado from Butler on the NASH courts. Resuming Section 2 play, the Tigers weathered the storm and defeated their very athletic northern neighbors 5-0 with straight set wins across each scoring line.
After first doubles secured the first team point, junior Mia Kaufman joined the clubhouse leaders with the second marker at the third singles slot. Her win featured the ‘discovery’ of a solid backhand which she used in a precise fashion. Freshman Winni Hayward clinched the match with another dominant first singles match. Sophomore Ruoxi Bai and freshman Sophia Yu controlled first doubles with meticulous accuracy. Wrapping up the scoring, sophomore Sammy Leeman took the second singles line in fastidious fashion by utilizing a strong serve-and-volley aspect of her game.
First doubles was where the Ladies of the Match designation could be found, as senior tri-captain Remi Hayward and junior Medha Thirumala set the tone quickly and convincingly for the Tigers. Using their symbiotic familiarity with each other after eight matches together, this dynamic duo clicked in a remarkable way once again.
The Tigers improve to 8-1 (4-0 in section play) and continue Section 2 play against Shaler Area on Monday, September 14. Match time against the Titans is scheduled for 3:30 PM on the NASH courts.
