Tigers tripped up in WPIAL Semifinals
North Allegheny traveled to Chartiers Valley High School to take on the Bethel Park Blackhawks in the WPIAL Semifinals on Monday afternoon. The Tigers battled Bethel Park tough but ultimately fell by a score of 3-2.
Audrey Zheng and Rouxi Bai were tested in both sets but ultimately took down Bethel Park’s #1 doubles team by set scores of 7-6(4), 7-5. Ella Mangene and Remi Hayward also needed a tiebreak to win one of their sets but won 6-2, 7-6(4).
Although the Tigers fell, their season is not over. Since three teams from the WPIAL qualify for the PIAA Girls Tennis tournament, North Allegheny will now play in a third-place consolation match against the loser of Shady Side Academy and Mt. Lebanon on Monday at 3 p.m. at a site to be determined.
