MATCH SUMMARIES

TIGERS REBOUND TO BLANK SENECA VALLEY, 5-0

The Tigers came back from a tough loss at Pine-Richland to shut out Seneca Valley, 5-0, at the Senior High courts on Wednesday afternoon.  Juniors Matt Kosovec and Sam Gill, along with freshman Bennett Salvatora, won the singles matches to pace NA to the victory.

In doubles play, the #1 team of junior Nick Dulac and senior Joe Macaluso and the #2 team of seniors Will Judkis and Xiao Zhu swept the hard-fought doubles matches.

With the win, the Tigers improved their section record to 3-1, the overall mark to 7-1 on the season.  NA will travel to neighborhood rival North Hills this afternoon for a 3:30 pm section match.

PINE-RICHLAND ENDS TIGER UNBEATEN
STREAK AT SIX

The Pine-Richland Rams ended the Tigers' six-match winning streak with a 5-0 victory in the wind and the rain at Pine-Richland High School on Tuesday afternoon.  The Rams proved to be too strong for NA although the match was more competitive than the final score of 5-0 would indicate.

The loss dropped the NA section record to 2-1, the overall mark to 6-1.  The Tigers will try to rebound this afternoon when they meet Seneca Valley in a section match at the Senior High courts.  The starting time has been set for 3:30 pm.

BUTLER FALLS TO TIGERS, 4-1, AS
NA REMAINS UNBEATEN

The Tigers won their sixth straight match with a 4-1 section victory over Butler at Windwood Racquet Club on Thursday afternoon.  Juniors Matt Kosovec and Sam Gill were victorious in the singles matches to pace the winning Tigers.

In doubles play, the #1 team of junior Kyle Kalchthaler and freshman Bennett Salvatora and the #2 team of junior Nick Dulac and senior Joe Macaluso were impressive in winning their matches.

With the win, the Tigers improved their section record to 2-0 on the season with the overall mark going to 6-0.  NA will travel to Pine-Richland on Tuesday to meet the Rams in a 3:30 pm section match.

TIGERS CONTINUE TO ROLL WITH 5-0
VICTORY AT HAMPTON

The Tigers won their fifth straight match without a loss with a 5-0 victory at Hampton on Wednesday afternoon.  Playing in windy condition on the Hampton courts, juniors Matt Kosovec and Kyle Kalchthaler, along with freshman Bennett Salvatora, were victorious in the singles matches to pace NA to the non-section victory.

In doubles play, the teams of juniors Matt Smith and Sam Gill, along with junior Nick Dulac and senior Joe Macaluso, completed the whitewash with victories.

 The Tigers will host Butler this afternoon in a key early season matchup.  The starting time is scheduled for 3:30 pm at the Senior High courts.

TIGERS SLIP BY McDOWELL, 3-2

A victory in the #1 singles match by junior Matt Kosovec gave the Tigers a 3-2 victory over a strong Erie McDowell team at the Senior High courts on Tuesday afternoon.  NA had taken a 2-1 lead thanks to the play of the Tiger doubles teams.  Victories by juniors Matt Smith and Nick Dulac along with junior Kyle Kalchthaler and freshman Bennett Salvatora put NA in a position to win.

After the Trojans fought back to tie the score at 2-2, it was up to Kosovec.  The Tiger junior came through in the clutch outlasting his opponent by the score of 6-3, 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker to give NA the victory.

The win improved the NA overall record to 4-0 on the season.  The Tigers will travel to Hampton this afternoon to meet the Talbots in a 3:30 pm non-section match.

FRANKLIN REGIONAL FALLS TO TIGERS, 5-0

The Tigers shut out Franklin Regional, 5-0, in a non-section match at Windwood Racquet Club on Monday afternoon.  Leading the way for NA were juniors Matt Kosovec, Sam Gill, and Kyle Kalchthaler who all won straight set victories in the singles competition.

In doubles play, the #1 team of junior Matt Smith and freshman Bennett Salvatora, along with the #2 team of junior Nick Dulac and senior Joe Macaluso, swept the doubles to preserve the shutout.

The Tigers will host the Erie McDowell Trojans this afternoon in another non-section match.  The scheduled starting time is set for 4:00 pm at the Senior High courts.

TIGERS EDGE LEBO, 3-2, FOR
SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

The Tigers got strong singles play from junior co-captains Matt Smith and Matt Kosevec to earn a 2-0 lead over Mt. Lebanon at Windwood Racquet Club on Tuesday afternoon.  The #2 doubles team of junior Nick Dulac and senior Joe Macaluso provided the match winner as NA downed Lebo, 3-2, in the non-section match.

NA was scheduled to play a section match at Pine-Richland this afternoon but weather forced postponement.  Next up for the Tigers are a pair non-section matches early next week.  On Monday, NA will host Franklin Regional at 12:00 noon while on Tuesday, Erie McDowell will visit the Senior High courts for a 4:00 pm match.

TIGERS SWEEP SHALER, 5-0, IN SECTION OPENER

The Tigers crushed Shaler, 5-0, in the section opener at the Senior High courts on Monday afternoon.  Leading the way were junior Matt Kosevic, junior Sam Gill, and junior Kyle Kalchthaler who swept the singles matches.

In doubles play, juniors Matt Smith and Nick Dulac teamed up at the #1 singles and while seniors Will Judkis and Joe Macaluso played at #2 with both teams sweeping their matches in straight sets.  In a dominating performance, the overall game score for the match was 60-5.

The Tigers will host Mt. Lebanon this afternoon in a non-section match at the Senior High courts.  The scheduled starting time is set for 3:00 pm.
