VARSITY SQUAD FINISHES 12TH AT UCA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2008 UCA High School Cheerleading Championship was held in Walt
Disney World in Orlando, Florida on February9th &
10th, 2008. There were teams from more than 40 States and nearly
400 total teams at the Championship. This is the largest and most
competitive High School Cheerleading event in the country and it was
truly an honor for the teams to compete against some of the top
teams from across the United States.
JV - Placed 8th in the Semifinal Round for Large JV
The Jr. Varsity squad competed in the Large Jr. Varsity
SEMIFINAL round on Saturday, February 9th in Disney's Hollywood
Studios at the MGM Theme Park. All of the girls
were VERY excited and ready to put on a great performance and
represent NA well. Once the music started in the arena, the girls
SHINED and had their best performance of the season! They hit all
of their tumbling, stunts and pyramids and the girls and the coaches
couldn't have been prouder. They couldn't have performed better and
every girl left the floor with their head held high. It was a
tremendous ending to an already GREAT season for the JV.
Varsity - Placed 12th in the Nation in the Final Round for Super
Varsity
The Varsity Squad competed in the Super Varsity division on
Sunday, February10th at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
They were very much looking to improve upon their placing in 2007
and had a goal of advancing to the coveted Final round. The girls
started in the SEMIFINAL Round for all Super Varsity teams -- which
was comprised of 40 total teams. Of those 40 teams, only 20 teams
would advance to the FINAL round for Super Varsity. The NA Varsity
girls had an OUTSTANDING performance and the coaches' knew that they
did everything they could to move on to the next round. The girls
anxiously awaited the announcement of the finalists and when they
heard "North Allegheny High School"
announced---- a burst of emotions came over all of the girls and the
coaches. It was a very exciting moment and the girls knew that
their initial goal of making it to finals came true! The girls then
had to prepare for their 2nd performance.
After the emotions settled a bit, the girls knew they had to
focus for the evening's performance. The Super Varsity division is
the most competitive division in the Championship and it is the
"finale" to the weekend. So, the girls knew that they had to put on
a great show to keep up with the other finalists. When the girls
took the floor around 9:00pm that night --- they performed even
better than their first round! They hit a great routine with a ton
of energy and excitement. They received their highest scores of
the entire season and left the floor feeling proud of their
accomplishments.
The final awards were announced in descending order and the
girls' excitement built as every name was announced. Exceeding our
expectations, the NA Varsity team was officially named 12th in the
Nation in the Super Varsity division. They have proven to be a
dominant force in the future! It was a wonderful way to finish the
competitive cheer season and send-off the 14 seniors on the team
with a very positive and memorable trip. It was a very exciting
and proud day for NA!

STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The NA cheerleaders traveled to Penn State University on Sunday,
January 13, 2008 for the Keystone State Cheerleading Championship.
They faced highly skilled teams from all over the region.
The Varsity team preformed well and received third place, and the JV
earned first. Great Job! Congratulations to all!

Championship in February. This will be the final competition for
the season. Best of luck at Disney.

NA CHEERLEADERS ARE HEADED TO FLORIDA!
The North Allegheny Cheerleaders continued to
shine at the UCA Allegheny Regional Championship in Slippery Rock
this weekend. Varsity won first, JV won second, so both squads
qualify and are going to the UCA National Cheerleading Championship
held at Walt Disney World in February.
The Varsity squad sustained another injury early in the day, but was
able to regroup. Their routine was so well executed that no one
could tell it had been changed that day. After seeing today’s
performance, there is no doubt the squad has the skill and
creativity to do well at Nationals.
The JV squad worked all week to prepare for their largest
competition to date. No one knew what to expect from the other JV
squads. This competition attracted many schools that they had never
seen perform. The young ladies did everything as planned then had
to wait to see how the other schools did. When the scores were
tallied, JV finished second. They know what they need to do to
succeed in Florida, and they are ready to go to work.
The squads will be busy with the start of basketball season. There
next competition is at the Keystone State Games on January 13 at
Penn State.

VARSITY CHEERLEADERS TAKE SECOND;
JV SQUAD
FINISHES FIRST IN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Cambria County War Memorial Arena housed the
Pennsylvania State Cheerleading Championship on Saturday, November
24th. The North Allegheny Varsity cheerleaders managed
to rearrange their routine at the last minute due to an injury
during warm ups and place second in both the Super Varsity and the
Quad A School Divisions. The perseverance of the squad members will
help them get ready for the Allegheny Regional Competition at
Slippery Rock next weekend.
The JV squad won first place at the state
championships by stunning the judges with a lively routine featuring
an advanced difficulty level. The members successfully lead the
crowd during an enthusiastic cheer sequence and finished with a
creative and well executed dance.
Great Job Everyone! Good Luck at Slippery Rock!

VARSITY CHEERLEADERS DOMINATE AT THREE RIVERS
CHALLENGE
The NA
cheerleaders dominated at the first competition of the season held
at Upper St. Clair High School on Saturday, November 10.
The varsity
squad was flawless in their technique. They hit every stunt,
tumbling pass, and motion to win first place in the Super Varsity
Division. The judges noted that they loved both the cheer and
dance. The girls were further honored as Runner-Up Grand
Champions of the entire event. GREAT JOB LADIES!!
The JV squad
began their routine with an energetic opening. They kept up
the pace by leading the crowd in a strong cheer and finished with a
creative dance portion. The JV shined with their strong
tumbling talent throughout the routine. WAY TO GO!
Both squads will start
right back to work on Monday to get ready for the Pennsylvania
States in Johnstown on November 24 at the Cambria County War
Memorial Arena. Come see what everyone is cheering about!

Cheerleading Mini Camp
The NA high school cheerleaders hosted another
fun and exciting Mini Camp this summer. Students entering
grades K-8 attended for one week in June. The highlight of the
camp was the performance on Friday. Everyone learned the
various cheerleading skills and demonstrated them for their family
and friends.
This was the first year that students entering
kindergarten were involved. All agreed they were a welcome
addition. We look forward to seeing everyone at camp next
year!
