Garden Spot lost in three straight to Allentown Central Catholic in the final.  The Lady Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 20-4 as they claimed third place in both the WPIAL and PIAA tournaments.

LADY TIGERS EDGE SENECA VALLEY, 3-2, FOR THIRD PLACE AND PIAA BERTH

To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

The Lady Tigers avenged a pair of losses to Seneca Valley during the regular season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Raiders at Chartiers Valley HS on Saturday afternoon in the WPIAL Class AAA consolation match.  After losing the first game, 25-20, NA came back to win the next two, 25-18 and 25-19.  After the Raiders came back to take game four, 25-15, the Lady Tigers prevailed in game five, 15-11.  Junior OH Jackie Lang had 19 kills and junior MB Gretta Freyermuth added 18 to pace NA.

Seneca Valley took control of the first game early building a 6-1 lead behind the hitting of Jennifer Boyd.  The Lady Tigers rallied on a tip by senior setter Caitlin Decker, a block by senior MB Laura Sudo and a kill by Lang to cut the margin to 9-6.  After a block by Lauren Balmert and an ace by Maggie Gillooly pushed the margin to 11-6, Lang scored off the SV blockers, Sudo blocked for a point and junior OH Natalie Masters put back an overpass to cut the lead to 12-10.  That was as close as NA would get as the Raiders pushed the lead to five points at 17-12 and 19-14.  After an NA hitting error, the Lady Tigers rallied on a  Freyermuth kill down the middle and a pair of serving points by senior DS Alyssa Vukson to cut the margin to 23-20.  Jillian Galloway and Boyd finished off the Tigers with kills as Seneca took game one, 25-20.

In game two, the Lady Tigers opened an early 4-2 lead as Freyermuth scored three kills and senior MB Maria Nolan added a block.  After a Balmert kill brought the Raiders even at 7-7, Sudo went deep to put NA on top for good.  Sudo added another kill, Freyermuth two more, and Masters another off the SV blockers as NA extended the margin to 14-9.  The Lady Tigers then went on a 9-4 run to push the lead to 23-13.  Leading the way were Lang, Nolan, and senior DS Liz Hoffman who served an ace during the run.  After the Raiders came back to cut the lead to 23-17, Decker put NA at game point with a left-handed tip.  A double-hit called on the Raiders ended game two with NA earning a 25-18 victory.  Freyermuth had five kills and Sudo two kills and a block in the second game.

Seneca Valley came back to take an early 5-3 lead in game three behind the play of Meghan Franz and Galloway.  After Lang went down the line, Boyd and Galloway scored down the middle as the Raiders pushed the lead to 7-5.  After Nolan blocked to tie the game at 8-8, the Lady Tigers took control.  With Vukson serving, NA scored seven straight points with Freyermuth and Nolan doing most of the damage as NA took a 16-10 lead.  Lang and Sudo added kills to push the margin to 16-13 before Galloway went cross court.  Freyermuth led the charge down the stretch as NA took the margin to 24-18.  A hitting error by Seneca ended game three with the Lady Tigers winning, 25-18, and taking a two games to one lead in the match.  Freyermuth finished with seven kills and Nolan four kills and a block to pace NA in the game.

After the Lady Tigers took a 4-2 lead in game four behind kills by Freyermuth, Masters and a tip by Decker, the Raiders rallied to stay alive in the match.  After Lang put back an overpass, Boyd dinked in the middle, Justine Carrow went off the blockers and again down the middle as SV took a 12-8 lead.  Freyermuth and Nolan answered for NA with kills, but the Raiders then went on a 9-3 run with Franz, Galloway and Carrow leading the way.  NA rallied behind the serving of sophomore Kelsey Davies, who served an ace, and kills by Sudo and Lang, but Seneca Valley finished off game four with a 25-15 victory.  Lang had four kills and Freyermuth three to pace NA, but the Tigers committed eight hitting errors in the game.

With the match and a PIAA playoff spot on the line, the Lady Tigers came up big in the fifth and final game.  A kill by Lang gave NA an early 2-0 lead before a net violation and an ace by Balmert pushed Seneca on top, 3-2.  After Lang went off the blockers to tie the game at 3-3, the Lady Tigers took over.  After a net violation by the Raiders, Sudo went off the SV blockers and Lang scored the next three points as NA built an 8-3 advantage.  After a hitting error, Sudo went cross court to make it a 9-4 game.  A dink by Sarah Beals cut the lead to four, but two consecutive errors by the Raiders pushed the NA lead to 11-5.  After an NA service error, Freyermuth went down the middle to make it 12-6 and force SV coach Karen Martini to take a time out.  The Raiders rallied behind a double hit by NA and two consecutive service aces by Gillooly to cut the lead to 12-9.  Nolan answered with a dink before Carrow came back to cut the margin to 13-10.  A kill by Lang off the SV blockers put the Tigers at game and match points.  After an NA hitting error, Lang finished off the Raiders with a big swing to give the Lady Tigers a 15-11 victory in game five and a three games to two win in the match.  In game five, Lang posted seven kills to pace NA.

It was a good win for the Lady Tigers after dropping the regular season matches to the Raiders and finishing in second place in section behind Seneca.  NA got good performances from a number of players.  Decker was on target with her sets for most of the afternoon as she gave great chances for the NA hitters.  Despite a size disadvantage, Lang, Freyermuth, Nolan, Sudo and Masters all posted kills during the match.  Defensively, Vukson played tough in the back digging a number of balls and sending them to Decker.  Seniors Jackie Fitzgerald, Kristen Wingrove and Hoffman, along with junior Liz Wert and Davies all served well and helped defensively.  For her role in the decisive fifth game, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Jackie Lang as the Player of the Match.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improved their overall record to 17-3 and qualified for the PIAA playoffs.  In the first round, the Lady Tigers will travel to Erie to meet the McDowell Trojans, champions of District 10.  The match will be held at PSU-Behrend with the starting time set for 6:30 pm.

 IN WPIAL QUARTERFINALS

To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

After dropping the first game, 25-17, to Latrobe, the Lady Tigers rallied to win three straight and defeat the Wildcats, 3-1, in the WPIAL Quarterfinals at Plum High School on Tuesday night.  NA took game two, 25-19, edged the Wildcats, 26-24, in game three, and put the match away with a 25-8 victory in the fourth and final game.  Senior MB Maria Nolan led the way with nineteen kills and six blocks.

The Lady Tigers took an early 6-2 lead in game one as Nolan posted four kills and a block.  Sophomore Kasey Burkardt led a Wildcat rally with a pair of kills that cut the lead to 7-6.  Senior MB Laura Sudo scored down the middle and junior Jackie Lang on a cross court hit to extend the margin to 10-6.  Burkhardt came back with a kill and a service ace, along with several NA hitting errors, as Latrobe took a 12-11 lead.  After a pair of service aces by junior setter Kelly Feiertag, the Tigers committed five hitting errors and junior Sarah Moss blocked for a point as the Wildcats extended the lead to 20-12.  Nolan came back with a kill for NA, but the Wildcats controlled play down the stretch with Feiertag, senior Emily Fenton, and freshman Katelyn Svetahor contributing kills as Latrobe took game one, 25-17.

In game two, the Lady Tigers jumped off to an 8-1 lead behind the serving of senior DS Alyssa Vukson who scored seven serving points including an ace.  Nolan added three more kills, junior OH Natalie Masters hit the back line, and junior MB Gretta Freyermuth went cross court to record kills during the run.  After Nolan scored down the middle, the Wildcats rallied behind Svetahor who served an ace and added a kill to cut the lead to 10-6.  Kills by Sudo, Lang, Masters and Nolan helped NA extend the margin to 16-9.  After two NA hitting errors, senior setter Caitlin Decker scored on a left-handed tip and Nolan went off the Latrobe blockers to make it an 18-12 NA lead.  The Wildcats came back behind a Fenton kill and NA hitting errors to cut the lead to 21-17.  After a Latrobe hitting error, a kill by Burkhardt down the middle and a block by senior MB Ashley Cowles cut the margin to 22-19.  Kills by Freyermuth, Nolan and Masters ended game two with the Lady Tigers winning, 25-19, to even the match at one game each.

In game three, NA again got off to an early 8-3 lead with Nolan, Freyermuth and Sudo doing most of the damage.  A kill by Burkhardt, two NA net violations and an NA hitting error brought the Wildcats back to within one at 8-7.  Sudo put back an overpass and Lang picked up a kill to make it 10-7 before the Wildcats rallied to take the lead at 12-11 on an ace by Burkhardt.  After Latrobe extended the margin to 17-14, Nolan came back with two cross court kills, and Lang scored off the Wildcat blockers as NA tied the score at 17-17.  Two hitting errors by NA gave Latrobe the lead again before Sudo tied the game at 19-19.  After a net violation by Latrobe put the Tigers on top, 21-20, a kill by Burkhardt and two NA hitting errors gave the Wildcats a 23-21 lead.  A key service error by Latrobe cut the margin to one, and Sudo blocked for a point to tie the game at 23-23.  After a hitting error put NA on top by one, Cowles went down the middle to tie the game at 24.  Two hitting errors by Latrobe ended game three with the Lady Tigers taking a hard earned 26-24 victory to lead the match, two games to one.

In game four, the Lady Tigers took control from the outset to put away the match.  After Sudo went cross court to make it 1-0, Vukson served three straight points to extend the lead to 4-0.  After an NA service error, senior Jackie Fitzgerald served seven straight, including an ace, with kills by Masters and Nolan helping NA take an 11-1 advantage.  After a kill by Nolan on a slide, Latrobe came back briefly on NA hitting errors to cut the lead to 12-5.  Lang and Sudo both scored on dinks before a service error gave Latrobe another point as NA led, 14-6.  With Decker serving, the Lady Tigers scored the next six points with Sudo picking up a pair of kills, Freyermuth adding another to go along with an ace by Decker as the lead ballooned to 20-6.  With NA up, 22-8, Freyermuth scored on a kill and Masters went off the Wildcat blockers to put NA at game and match point.  Fittingly, Nolan ended the game and the match with a strong hit down the line as the Lady Tigers took game four, 25-8, and the match, three games to one.

Strong play at the net eventually wore down the upset minded Wildcats.  Latrobe never had an answer for Nolan with Sudo, Freyermuth, Masters and Lang contributing with big hits.  Setter Caitlin Decker set well during the match with the NA back line of Vukson, Fitzgerald, senior DS Kristen Wingrove, senior DS Liz Hoffman, and junior DS Liz Wert all contributing with good defensive play.  For her offensive performance, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Maria Nolan as the Player of the Match.

With the win, NA advanced to the WPIAL semifinals tomorrow night against top seed Mt. Lebanon.  The match will be held at Chartiers Valley High School.  The MSA Sports Network will be there to broadcast the match LIVE on the internet beginning with the pre-game show at 5:45 pm.  Match time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

The Indians stayed close early in game one as they cut a 5-2 NA lead to 7-5 on kills by Jordan Pope and Haley Parkhill.  After senior MB Laura Sudo regained the serve with a blast down the middle, senior DS Liz Hoffman served seven straight points to give NA a 14-5 advantage.  After an ace by NH's Sara Salisbury, and a couple of NA hitting errors, the Indians came back to cut the margin to 15-10.  Senior MB Maria Nolan then scored off a slide and blocked for another point to push the margin to 18-10.  Hitting errors and a net violation by the Indians made it a 21-12 NA lead.  Kills by senior DS Kristen Wingrove and Jackie Fitzgerald (yes that's right!) put NA at game point.  A hitting error off a Wingrove serve ended game one with the Lady Tigers taking a 25-13 victory and a one game to none lead in the match.  North Hills was guilty of 15 errors in game one.

Early in game two after junior OH Jackie Lang went down the middle to put NA on top, 3-1, NH tied the game at 3-3 on two Tiger hitting errors.  A kill by junior MB Gretta Freyermuth, a block by junior MB Kendra Calhoun, a cross court kill by Lang and a tip by sophomore DS Kelsey Davies put NA back on top, 8-4.  After Pope answered down the middle, a dink by Lang and two NH hitting errors extended the margin to 11-5.  After a kill by NH's Jess Wieland, the Lady Tigers scored the next four points behind two aces from junior DS Liz Wert and a kill by junior MH Kayleigh Tony as the lead went to 15-7.  NA pushed the margin to 21-9 with another kill by Tony off a quick set and a number of NH hitting errors.  After several NA errors, Pope put back an overpass to cut the margin to 21-12.  Lang answered with a left-handed dink and a kill off an overpass.  Pope scored on two more kills before an NH service error ended game two with the Lady Tigers taking a 25-14 victory and a two games to none lead in the match.

In game three, the Lady Tigers jumped off to a quick 6-1 lead and never looked back.  A kill by senior setter Caitlin Decker, another kill down the middle by Sudo, and an ace by Wert sparked the run before Pope answered to cut the lead to 6-2.  Wingrove scored another kill off the NH blockers and Sudo went down the line to make it a 9-3 NA advantage.  Wingrove then served three straight points, including an ace, and Sudo scored on a two-handed push in the middle to extend the margin to 12-3.  After Parkhill picked up a kill, Sudo answered with a cross court hit and Nolan put back an overpass to make it 14-4.  The Indians cut the lead to 15-7 before junior Laura Conti put back another NH overpass.  After an NA service error and an ace by Jennah Remele made it 16-9, Conti scored again off the NH blockers.  Later, three kills by Sudo pushed the lead to 21-12.  After Katelyn Klug went down the middle for a kill, the Lady Tigers scored the next four points to  put away the match.  With six seniors on the court at the end, Nolan's kill pushed the score to 24-13.  Hoffman's ace finished off the Indians as the Lady Tigers took game three, 25-13, and the match, three games to none.

It was an overall team victory as Coach Dan Schall used his entire squad in picking up the victory.  Good performances at the net by a number of NA players along with good sets by Decker and Davies allowed the Lady Tigers to control the match.  For her efforts in the back court and behind the serving line, the North Allegheny Sports Network named senior Liz Hoffman as the Player of the Match.

With the win, the Lady Tigers finished with a section record of 10-2, an overall mark of 14-2.  The WPIAL playoffs will begin next week.  The Lady Tigers will host the NA Invitational this weekend with action slated to get under way at 9:00 am tomorrow morning.

To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

After dropping the first game, 25-22, the Lady Tigers rallied to win the next three and defeat Butler, 3-1, at the Senior High gym on Wednesday night.  Senior Maria Nolan led a strong NA effort at the net as the Lady Tigers won their fifth straight match.  NA won game two, 25-20, game three, 25-17, and the fourth and final game, 25-22.

The Lady Tigers got off to a good start in game one as they built a 6-3 lead behind kills by Nolan and junior OH Jackie Lang and the serving of senior DS Kristen Wingrove.  Butler came back to score five straight points on the serves of Amanda Huey.  After a service error made it an 8-7 Tornado lead, a block by Abbie Druschel, an ace by Stephanie Mock, a kill by Ashley Grenet, and two more kills by Druschel gave the Tornado a commanding 14-7 margin.  Senior MB Laura Sudo led an NA comeback with a pair of kills as the Lady Tigers cut the lead to 16-12.  Nolan answered a kill by Huey but NA still trailed, 18-15.  The Lady Tigers would then come all the way back to tie the score at 20-20 sparked by a blast by Nolan down the middle and a kill by junior OH Natalie Masters.  After Butler took the lead on a service error, Nolan drove another hard kill down the line to tie the game at 21-21.  Butler answered with a 4-1 run to close out game one, 25-22, and take a one game to none lead in the match.

In game two after an early 3-3 tie, the Lady Tigers took control.  Lang scored four straight points and Sudo went of the blockers for another as NA built an 11-5 lead.  After an ace by senior setter Caitlin Decker, Lang scored again down the middle as the lead went to 13-6 before Butler setter Katie Willison answered with a kill.  The Tornado then went on a 7-1 run to cut the margin to 14-13 with 6-1 junior Becky Smith leading the way.  After a Butler hitting error, Nolan scored down the middle and with a kill of an overpass as NA pushed the margin to 18-13.  Smith came back with a kill and a block to lead a Tornado rally than brought Butler within one at 19-18.  The Lady Tigers would not be denied, however, as senior DS Liz Hoffman came off the bench to serve five straight points.  During the run, Lang, Decker and Nolan all scored at the net with Hoffman adding an ace to push the lead to 24-18.  After two points by the Tornado, Nolan went off the Butler blockers to give NA a 25-20 win in game two and tie the match at one game each.

The two teams battled on even terms early in game three.  After Lang went down the middle to tie the game at 4-4, Sudo scored on a two-handed push to bring NA even at 5-5.  Decker then served a pair of aces to make it 7-5, but Butler continued to battle as they tied the game at 9-9.  At this point, NA gradually built the lead.  A kill by Masters down the line, a service ace by senior DS Alyssa Vukson, a Nolan kill and a Masters dink gave the Tigers a 14-10 lead.  After Masters scored down the middle, Butler committed a pair of hitting errors as the NA lead went to 17-11.  Good hitting by Lang and Sudo, along with another ace by Decker, pushed the margin to 21-14.  After Butler cut the lead to 21-16 on a kill by Grenet, NA coach Dan Schall called a time out.  Lang then scored on a diving save for a point, Sudo blocked for another, and Masters put the Tornado away with a kill to give NA a 25-17 victory in game three and a two games to one lead in the match.

In game four, Butler battled NA throughout the game and were able to build a 14-10 lead behind the hitting of Huey and Smith along with some NA hitting errors.  Nolan's dink down the middle started the NA comeback .  After a service error, Nolan went down the middle to cut the margin to 16-14.  After a service error by the Tigers and a kill by Grenet, NA went on a 5-0 run to take the lead.  A kill by Lang, a cross court winner by junior MB Gretta Freyermuth, a kill cross court by Sudo and a Lang blast down the middle put the Lady Tigers on top, 19-18.  Butler came back to go ahead, 21-20, on Smith's block.  A pair of Tornado hitting errors and a net violation gave the Lady Tigers a 23-21 advantage.  After Nolan scored off the Butler blockers, Smith answered to cut the lead to 24-22.  Fittingly, Nolan ended the game and the match with a cross court hit to give NA a 25-22 win in game four and a three games to one victory in the match.

It was a good team victory by the Lady Tigers with many contributors toward the win.  Vukson was tough in the back keeping many balls in play with diving saves.  Lang came on strong after game one with some big swings, Sudo added some key points at the net, Masters added some timely points, senior DS Jackie Fitzgerald played well in the back, and Decker set consistently throughout the match.  For her play throughout the match, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Maria Nolan as the Player of the Match.

With the win, NA improved their section record to 7-1, the overall mark to 11-1 on the season.  The Lady Tigers will travel to New Castle on Tuesday night to meet the Lady 'Canes in a 7:00 pm section contest.

IN THREE STRAIGHT

To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

The Lady Tigers won their third straight match with a 3-0 victory over defending Class AA Champion Greensburg Salem at the Senior High gym on Wednesday night.  NA won the first game, 25-18, took game two, 25-17, and held off the Lions, 25-21, in game three.  Junior MB Gretta Freyermuth led the way with eleven kills and a block

In game one, the Lady Tigers took a quick 4-0 lead behind the serving of senior DS Alyssa Vukson who posted an ace.  The Lions came back to score the next five points on NA hitting errors and a kill by senior OH Taylor Guido.  After Freyermuth evened the score with a kill down the middle, Guido scored again to put the Lions back on top, 6-5.  The teams exchanged points with junior Natalie Masters scoring on a kill and a block, senior DS Kristen Wingrove serving an ace, and junior Jackie Lang blocking for a point.  With the score tied at 9-9, two hitting errors by the Lions and a cross court blast by Lang gave NA a 12-9 lead.  Lang went off the GS blockers for another point, but the Lions rallied behind a dink by Jessica Yurinko and more NA hitting errors to cut the lead to 13-12.  After a kill by junior MB Kayleigh Tony, the Lions took the lead on a kill by Guido and two more NA errors.  Freyermuth tied the game at 15-15 with a hit down the middle, and the Lady Tigers took over at that point.  An pair of aces by senior setter Caitlin Decker, two blocks by senior MB Maria Nolan and a hitting error by the Lions gave NA a 19-15 advantage.  Down the stretch, the Lady Tigers outscored the Lions, 6-3, to capture the game.  Freyermuth added a block, with Nolan and senior MB Laura Sudo also blocking for points as NA went on to win game one, 25-18.  It was a sloppy contest with 17 of the 43  points coming on hitting or service errors.  Nolan posted four blocks to lead NA.

Game two belonged to NA from the outset as they built an early 5-2 lead.  Freyermuth went off the GS blockers for the first point and added another on a cross-court hit with Nolan blocking for a point during the run.  After two hitting errors cut the lead, senior Jackie Fitzgerald served three straight points, including an ace, with Sudo putting back an overpass and Lang dinking down the middle as NA increased the margin to 9-4.  Masters and Sudo then posted kills as the lead went to 12-6.  Yurinko and Guido led a Lion rally tht cut the margin to 15-13 before NA took over the match.  Freyermuth scored on two straight kills and Decker served an ace before Guido answered to make it 18-14.  A Nolan kill cross court, a blast by Lang down the line and two Lion hitting errors extended the lead to 21-15.  NA closed out game two on a pair of kills by Sudo with Freyermuth ending the game with the Lady Tigers taking a 25-17 victory.  In game two, Freyermuth posted six kills and Sudo added four more as NA took a two games to none lead in the match.

In game three, the Lions battled hard to try and salvage a win.  Once again, the Lady Tigers jumped out early with a 4-1 lead behind a pair of points by Freyermuth and a strong hit by Nolan that hit the back line.  A Guido cross court hit and several NA hitting errors gave the Lions a 6-5 lead.  Lang answered with a pair of kills before Guido scored on a two-handed push to tie the game at 7-7.  More NA hitting errors and a kill by Alyssa Loughren gave the Lions a 12-8 advantage.  Kills by Freyermuth and Nolan were answered by Andre'a Thompson and more NA errors as the lead went to 15-10.  With Decker serving, the Lady Tigers rallied to score eight straight points to recapture the lead at 18-15.  Decker served an ace and repeatedly forced GS hitting errors with her accurate serves.  An NA error and a service ace by Christen Casale brought the Lions back to within one at 18-17 before Nolan went down the middle.  The Lions came back on a kill by Guido, an ace by Brittany Lakin and a kill by setter Lea Olecki to regain the advantage at 20-19.  It was not to be the Lions' night, however, as NA used a 6-1 run to close out the game and the match.  With the score tied at 20-20, Sudo took over with two kills and a block to put NA ahead, 24-20.  A hitting error ended the night for the Lions as NA won game three, 25-21, and the match, three games to none.  Sudo had four kills for NA in game three while Guido led the Lions with three kills and two blocks.

It was a good win for the Lady Tigers over a quality opponent.  Despite the hitting errors, NA got good work at the net by Sudo, Freyermuth, Nolan and Lang.  Setters Decker and sophomore Logan Meinert did a good job of giving the NA hitters opportunities for kills.  For her efforts, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Gretta Freyermuth as the Player of the Match.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improved their overall record to 9-1 on the season.  Section play will resume on Tuesday when NA travels to Hampton to meet the Talbots in a 7:00 pm contest.

SENECA VALLEY STOPS LADY TIGERS' UNBEATEN STREAK AT SIX WITH 3-1 VICTORY

To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

The Seneca Valley Raiders defeated the Lady Tigers, 3-1, at the Senior High gym on Tuesday night to end the NA unbeaten streak at six.  Senior Maria Nolan led the Lady Tigers with 18 kills and two blocks, but the Raiders prevailed.  Seneca won game one, 25-23 game two, 25-14, with NA coming back to win game three, 25-13.  In the fourth and final game, the Raiders took a 25-18 victory.

The Raiders jumped off to an early 5-2 lead behind the hitting of 6-1 seniors Jennifer Boyd and Justine Carrow.  After junior OH Jackie Lang scored down the middle, Nolan followed with a kill to cut the margin to 5-4.  After a kill by Raider junior OH Jillian Galloway, Nolan put back an overpass and senior MB Laura Sudo went off the SV blockers to tie the game at 6-6.  Three straight hitting errors gave NA a 9-7 lead before kills by Galloway and Carrow tied the game at 9-9.  After Carrow went down the middle, Lang came back with a two-handed push to cut the lead to 11-10.  With the Raiders ahead, 14-11, Nolan scored down the middle and junior OH Natalie Masters blocked for a point to cut the margin to 14-13.  Junior MB Gretta Freyermuth and Nolan combined on a block and a hitting error by the Raiders put NA on top, 15-14.  Seneca then regrouped to score five straight points on two kills by Galloway, a putback of an overpass by junior OH Sarah Beals, and an ace by Carrow.  Once again, the Lady Tigers rallied to tie the game with Nolan and Masters combining on a block, Lang scoring cross court, and a SV hitting error.  Nolan put the Lady Tigers ahead, 20-19, with a strong hit down the line.  After Beals tied the game, Lang hit the back line to put NA back ahead again, 21-20.  Boyd then went cross court, but Sudo answered with a dink down the line to make it a 22-21 NA lead.  A dink by Meghan Franz and a violation by NA gave the Raiders the lead before Sudo went cross court to tie the game at 23-23.  A kill by SV senior setter Lauren Balmert and an ace by Franz gave the Raiders a 25-23 victory in game one.  Lang and Nolan led NA in the game with four kills each.

In game two after an early 2-2 tie, two NA errors put the Raiders ahead for good.  Nolan went off the blockers to cut the lead to 4-3, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.  A left-handed tip by Balmert, a block by Galloway, and a number off NA hitting errors allowed the Raiders to take a 13-7 lead.  The Lady Tigers tried to stay close with kills by Lang and Freyermuth, but kills by Boyd, Galloway and Franz, along with more NA hitting errors, allowed the margin to increase to 20-11.  Nolan scored on a slide and senior DS Liz Hoffman served an ace, but Balmert added another tip to make it 21-13.  The Raiders closed out the game with a 4-1 run with a putback of an NA overpass by Carrow ending the game with Seneca Valley taking a 25-14 victory.  The win put the Raiders ahead, two games to none, in the match.  NA finished with twelve hitting errors in the game.

Game three belonged to Nolan and the Lady Tigers.  Senior DS Alyssa Vukson got NA off to a good start with five straight serving points including an ace.  Nolan picked up three points on two blocks and a cross court kill.  After a hitting error put the Raiders on the board, Nolan scored on a slide, a kill down the middle, a kill off a SV overpass, and yet another kill before Beals went down the line.  NA had built a 10-1 lead.  Beals scored again before Nolan answered off the SV blockers.  The Lady Tigers continued to extend the margin with Lang scoring off the blockers and Nolan going cross court.  Nolan hit the back line to make it 15-4 before Franz answered for the Raiders.  Masters then hit the back line, Lang went down the middle and the Raiders committed a pair of hitting errors as the NA lead went to 19-6.  Seneca mounted a mild rally but the Lady Tigers would hold on to win this game.  NA closed out the game on hits by Lang, a block by Nolan, another ace by Vukson, and a final kill by Freyermuth as the Lady Tigers took game three, 25-13, to cut the lead to two games to one.  Nolan had nine kills and two blocks in game three.

The Raiders came back strong in game four to open an early 6-1 lead behind the hitting of Carrow, Beals and Boyd.  Once again the Lady Tigers rallied on a pair of kills by Nolan and an ace by senior setter Caitlin Decker to cut the margin to 7-5.  Seneca Valley never trailed but NA kept battling back to cut the lead to one on three different occasions.  After Galloway hit the back line to extend the lead to 9-6 before a dink by Sudo and a blast by Lang down the middle cut the margin to 9-8.  After a kill by Carrow and an SV hitting error made it 10-9, the Raiders went on a four point run thanks to some hitting errors by NA.  With the score 14-11, the Lady Tigers rallied again.  A block by Freyermuth and two straight points by Masters cut the lead to 14-13.  Nolan went cross court and barely missed the line to tie the game.  The Raiders then went on a 5-1 run on a tip by Balmert and more NA hitting errors.  Lang scored on two kills to cut the lead to 22-17, but the Raiders were not to be denied.  After Decker scored to make it 23-18, a kill by Beals and a block by Carrow ended game four and the match.  The Raiders won the fourth game, 25-18, and the match, three games to one.

Seneca Valley played well in the match and used their height advantage at the net to hold off the Lady Tigers.  With the win, the Raiders moved into first place in the section with a record of 5-0 while NA dropped to 3-1.  For her strong play, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Maria Nolan as the Player of the Match.
