TIGER TEAMS DOWN NORTH HILLS
 AND SENECA VALLEY

Both Tiger teams were victorious over North Hills and Seneca Valley at Martorelli Stadium at North Hills on Monday afternoon.  The boys took care of North Hills, 113-37, and Seneca Valley, 108-42.  The Lady Tigers won easily over North Hills, 100-50, but were tested by Seneca Valley in a 78-72 victory.

With the wins, the Tiger teams improved to 6-0 on the season.  The Tiger teams will travel to Moon this afternoon for the annual Moon Relays.  Meet time is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

TIGER TEAMS KNOCK OFF KNOCH

Meet Results

Both Tiger teams earned victories against the Knoch Knights on Thursday afternoon.  The boys downed the Knights, 117-33, while the Lady Tigers were victorious by a 93-57 score.

The Tiger boys won 13 of 18 events including all three relay races in the easy victory.  Leading the way was junior Brian Austin with wins in both the 100 and long jump.  Junior Andrew McIlvried won the 400 and placed second in the 200 with sophomore Evan Shepard winning the 200 and coming in second in the 100.  Sophomore David Humphrey won the 110 hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles.  Senior Matt Jacob took the 3200 run.  Placing second for NA were senior Michael Lanz in the 110 hurdles, senior Justin Taylor in th 1600, senior Jake Holdcroft in the 400, senior Dan Hoover in the 800 and sophomore Jay Cadwallader in the 3200.

In boys' field events, junior Doug Heckmann won the pole vault, junior Macus Hambrick took the discus, and Humphrey was first in the triple jump.  In second place in the field were senior Gavin Volpe in the shot put, junior Brian Nimmo in the high jump, junior Mike Foglio in the long jump, sophomore Jason Turner in the discus, and sophomore Jake Klingensmith in the javelin. 

The Lady Tigers also won 13 of 18 events including both relay races.  Individually, freshman Halie Carter was a double winner taking both the 400 and 200.  Senior Jackie Sokulski won the 1600, junior Molly Antimarino the 800, and freshman Emma Miciak the 100.  In second place on the track were senior Grace Concelman in both hurdles, senior Danielle Mostachetti in the 800, senior Laura Ochs in the 3200, and sophomore Rachel Kost in the 100.  Freshman Mary Krepp was third in both hurdles races.

In the field, senior Ginny Thistle had a good day winning the discus and placing second in both the shot put and javelin.  Senior Maria Nolan won the high jump and freshman Taylor Yarshen took the pole vault.  Senior Kristen Graf was second in the pole vault while sophomore Erin Cassetori was second in the triple jump     

With the wins, both teams remained unbeaten in section with 4-0 records.  The Tiger teams will be in action again on Monday when they travel to North Hills to meet the Indians and Seneca Valley.  Meet time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

BOYS THIRD, GIRLS FIFTH IN TRI-STATE
COACHES INVITATIONAL

Meet Results

The Tiger boys finished in third place while the Lady Tigers came in fifth at the Tri-State Coaches Outdoor Championships at West Mifflin High School on Saturday.  Top individual performances for NA came from junior Cody McCoy who won the intermediate hurdles and senior Matt Jacob who took second in the 3200.  The boys' 4x800 relay team also won their event.

For the boys, junior Brian Austin took third in the 100, junior Will Appman third in the 800 and senior Justin Taylor third in the 3200.  Other Tigers placing in the meet were junior Andrew McIlvried with a 6th in the 400, junior Pat Baum with a 7th in the 800, senior Dan O'Brien with a 7th in the 1600, and junior Matt Machiko with a seventh in the high hurdles.  The 4x100 relay team finished in fifth place.

McCoy also took fourth in the high hurdles for NA.  Senior Ginny Thistle picked up a bronze medal in the discus, senior Kelly Carioto was fourth in the shot put, and freshman Halie Carter fourth in the 200.   Also, senior Jackie Sokulski was sixth in the 1600, and senior Danielle Mostachetti took eighth in the 800.  The 4x100 relay team finished in 8th place. 

The Tiger teams will be back in action again on Thursday when they travel to Knoch for a section meet.  The scheduled starting time is set for 3:30 pm.

TIGER TEAMS REMAIN UNBEATEN WITH
VICTORIES AT SHALER

Meet Results

The Tiger teams traveled to Shaler on Tuesday afternoon and defeated the Titans in both boys' and girls' meets.  The boys' team trounced the Titans, 124-26, while the Lady Tigers won by an 88-62 score.

The boys won 15 of 18 events on their way to the easy victory.  Leading the way were senior Matt Jacob who captured both the 1600 and 3200 and  junior Matt Machiko who won both hurdles races.  Senior Brian Austin captured the 100, senior Dan Hoover the 800 and junior Andrew McIlvried the 400.  In the field, junior Brian Nimmo again won both the high and long jumps.  Senior Gavin Volpe was victorious in the shot put, junior Doug Heckmann took the pole vault, sophomore Jason Turner the discus and sophomore David Humphrey the triple jump.  The 4x800 and 4x100 relay teams won their races.

Taking second place points were sophomore Evan Shepard in both the 100 and 200, senior Michael Lanz in the 110 hurdles, senior Jake Holdcroft in the 800, senior Justin Taylor in the 3200, and sophomore Eric Balaban in the 1600.  In the field, sophomore Jacob Sunday was second in both the javelin and triple jump, junior Marcus Hambrick in the discus, Turner in the shot put, Austin in the long jump, and sophomore Ryan Donahue in the pole vault.

The Lady Tigers won 13 of the 18 events in defeating the Titans.  Junior Cody McCoy won both hurdles races while freshman Emma Miciak captured both the 100 and 200.  Senior Jackie Sokulski was first in the 1600 and senior Danielle Mostachetti first in the 800.  The 4x800 relay team defeated Shaler in their race.  In the field, senior Ginny Thistle won both the javelin and discus while senior Cecily Sunday captured the long jump and pole vault.  Senior Kelly Carioto took first in the shot put and senior Maria Nolan won the high jump.

In the field, Thistle was second in the shot, senior Cyedha Banks in the high jump, sophomore Erin Cassetori in the triple jump, and senior Kristen Graf in the pole vault.  Sokulski took second in the 3200.

With the wins, the NA teams improved their section records to 3-0 on the year.  The Tiger teams will travel to West Mifflin on Saturday for the Tri-State Invitational with action slated to begin at 8:30 am.

TIGER TEAMS CRUSH PINE-RICHLAND
IN SECTION MEETS

Meet Results

The Tiger teams ran their records to 2-0 in section with easy victories over Pine-Richland at Newman Stadium on a cold Friday afternoon.  In the boys' meet, NA triumphed by a score of 138-12 while the Lady Tigers rolled over the Rams, 120-30.

The boys' won 16 of 18 events including all three relay races.  Winning on the track were senior Michael Lanz in the 110 hurdles, senior Dan Hoover in the 800, senior Dan O'Brien in the 3200, junior Brian Austin in the 100, junior Andrew McIlvried in the 400 and sophomore Evan Shepard in the 200.  In the field, junior Brian Nimmo led the way with victories in both the high and long jumps.  Senior Gavin Volpe took the shot put, senior Mike Fuhrman the javelin, sophomore Ryan Donahue, sophomore Jacob Sunday the triple jump and sophomore Jason Turner the discus.

The Lady Tigers also captured 16 of 18 events.  Leading the way on the track was junior Cody McCoy who won both hurdles races.  Also taking first places in trace events were senior Daniel Mostachetti in the 800, senior Jackie Sokulski in the 3200, freshman Emma Miciak in the 100, freshman Ali Greco in the 1600, and freshman Halie Carter in the 400.  In the field, senior Cecily Sunday both the pole vault and long jump, senior Ginny Thistle took both the discus and javelin, senior Maria Nolan won the high jump, and senior Kelly Carioto the shot put.

The Tiger teams will travel to Shaler tomorrow afternoon to meet the Titans in section meets beginning at 3:30 pm.

TIGER TEAMS STOP HAMPTON

Meet Results

Both the girls and boys' teams were victorious against Hampton in the section opener on Wednesday afternoon at Newman Stadium.  The Lady Tigers downed the Talbots, 101-49, while the boys crushed Hampton, 126-24.

The Lady Tigers dominated Hampton in winning 13 of 18 events.  Leading the way for NA was senior Ginny Thistle who won the javelin and discus while taking second in the shot.  Senior Kelly Carioto won the shot with second place finishes in both the javelin and discus.  Also winning in the field was senior Cecily Sunday with a first in both the long jump and pole vault.  Taking seconds in the field were senior Maria Nolan in the high jump, senior Kristen Graf in the pole vault and freshman Loren Calabrese in the long jump.

On the track, junior Cody McCoy won both hurdles races, freshman Mindy Graf won the 400, senior Danielle Mostachetti the 800, and freshman Halie Carter the 100.  Taking seconds were senior Jackie Sokulski in the 1600, senior Grace Concelman in the 300 intermediate hurdles, and senior Laura Ochs in the 3200.  All three relay teams were victorious.

On the track, senior Dan O'Brien won the 1600, senior Jake Holdcroft the 800, senior Matt Jacob the 3200, junior Matt Machiko the high hurdles, and junior Brian Austin the 100.  Picking up second-place points were senior Nick Evers in the 400, Machiko in the intermediate hurdles, sophomore Eric Balaban in the 1600, sophomore Evan Shepard in the 200, freshman Diego Febres-Cordero in the 800, and freshman Ryan Gil in the 3200.  All three relay teams won their races.

The Tiger teams will host Pine-Richland tomorrow afternoon in a section meet.  The starting time at Newman Stadium is set for 3:30 pm
