The NA Varsity competition team traveled to Hershey for the 2015 PIAA Competitive Spirit Championship on January 23^rd – 24^th.   The event was held at the Giant Center and housed the top 118 teams from around the state of Pennsylvania.  Teams qualified from all 12 Districts in PA in the hopes of returning the state title to their school.  All preliminary rounds were held on Friday, January 23^rd and the Semi-Final and Final rounds were held on January 24^th.   For each division, the top 25% of teams from the preliminary round advanced directly into the FINALS with the next 25% of teams advancing to the Semi-Final round for a shot at Finals.

The NA Varsity team had an outstanding performance in the preliminary round scoring in the Top 4 on Day 1 and was announced as going directly into Finals.   The team performed a near flawless routine and was excited to advance to the difficult final round.

In the Final round of the tournament, the NA Cheerleaders performed well despite some minor mistakes.  All teams in the Large Varsity finals were talented and several among the top teams in the country.  With outstanding support from NA fans and family, the NA cheerleaders were proud to finish 6^th overall in the PIAA state tournament.  This was the 3^rd year in a row that the NA Cheerleaders were finalists in the PIAA tournament.

The NA Varsity competition team will travel to Orlando, FL for UCA High School Nationals for their final competition of the season.   With several outstanding performances this season, the team is feeling confident about being successful at Nationals.

The team will be hosting a “Send-off Performance” for all friends and family of the local teams attending Nationals.  For all those who wish to attend, the event will be held on Monday, February 2^nd, 2015 at 7:00pm.

North Allegheny is Hershey Bound. The North Allegheny cheerleaders traveled to Hempfield High School on Saturday for the annual WPIAL Competitive Spirit Championship. The team was going in with a history of success at this event and hoping to earn a bid to the PIAA State Cheerleading Championship in Hershey.

The NA girls competed in the Large Varsity category and were in the highly competitive AAA category as well. In a division of nine highly skilled teams from around the WPIAL, the NA Cheerleaders came out as the winner by a significant margin to the runner-up Norwin High School. In the AAA category, the NA Varsity came out fourth overall out of all of the teams on the day.

The NA Cheerleaders have now secured a spot to the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championship in Hershey on January 23rd and 24th. The team looks to win the State title this year after finishing as the State Runner-up in 2013 and 2014.

The North Allegheny Varsity competition squad traveled to IUP this weekend for the PA State Cheerleading Competition.  The event was held at the Kovalchick Convention Center on the IUP campus on Saturday, November 22.   This was the first competition of for both teams for the 2014-15 season.

The NA Varsity Competition team went into a highly competitive division of perennial powerhouse programs from all different parts of the state.  NA competed in the Large Varsity division with eight other teams, two of which were the 2013 PIAA State Champions in their respective divisions.

The Varsity competition team took the floor with a strong level of difficulty in their routine with the hopes of performing with a high level of execution.   After their 2 minute and 30 second routine, they left the floor feeling confident with a nearly flawless performance.  The team had to wait out several other performances following theirs from some outstanding cheer programs from the Johnstown and Harrisburg areas.   As the awards were announced, the NA Varsity team won the Large Varsity division and was announced as the PA State Cheerleading Champions!

It was an outstanding day and the Varsity cheerleaders are hoping this momentum will carry them into their Nationals qualifying competition in two weeks.
