Andrew Doerfler Wins Silver At WPIAL Diving Championships

North Allegheny senior Andrew Doerfler will represent the Tigers at the state championships next month thanks to a second place finish on Monday night at the WPIAL Class AAA Diving Championships.  Doerfler earned his second consecutive silver medal in WPIAL competition with a score of 503.5. Penn-Trafford junior Joey Ference won gold with a score of 589.40. For complete look at the WPIAL boys’ diving results, click here.

Joining Doerfler at states will be NA’s Julia Vespoli who took fourth place in the girls’ competition with a score of 464.90. Chartiers Valley’s Maria Lohman won first place honors with a career-high score of 603.50. It was the fourth consecutive WPIAL crown for Lohman. Tonight’s top five finishers, including Doerfler and Vespoli, qualify for the PIAA Diving championships on March 14 at Bucknell University.
