Lola Malarky Wins Beaver Bobcast Diving Invitational

Posted on:

Four North Allegheny divers attended the Beaver Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.  The invitational hosted divers from several WPIAL schools (10+) and was great preparation for the upcoming WPIAL championships with the invitational holding the same 11 dive format that the WPIAL and PIAA championships use.

Twenty three girls competed and North Allegheny’s Lola Malarky won the invitational in record breaking fashion.  Her score of 504.35 set both the Invitational scoring record and also the Beaver Area High School pool record for an 11 dive meet. However, Malarky was not the only NA lady diver who found success.  Sophomore Maggie Lapina came in third in a the field that boasted many of the top divers in the WPIAL.  Rounding out the great day for the Lady Tigers was Juliet Hood with a strong sixth-place finish in the field of 23.

Ethan Maravich took fifth place in the boys’ competition.

The boys had twelve participants and a strong field as well.  Seneca Valley Senior (and Penn St recruit) Isaiah Clerkley won the event.  North Allegheny sophomore Ethan Maravich delivered a great performance finishing in fifth place (less than nine points from fourth).

Up next for the entire NA swimming and diving team is a section meet at Seneca Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
