Tigers Stay Perfect with Sweep of Pine-Richland

North Allegheny returned home to face rival Pine-Richland in Wexford, and the results remained the same for the Tigers, as they improved to (7-0, 2-0) by sweeping the Rams. The boys posted a 98-68 victory and the girls won 95-83.

Lola Malarky (281.20) and Juliet Hood (229.25) took first and third in the girls diving competition, with Kendyll Jerry (231.25) from Pine-Richland finishing second.

Ethan Maravich (204.65) broke 200 for the second time this season as he and fellow sophomore Reed Messer were the only two boys to dive.

The Tiger girls took first and third in the 200-medley relay, with the team of Dani Hinkson, Natalie Sens, Eva Ogden, and Greta Mott posting a winning time of 1:51.51.

The boys team of William Gao, Dylan Seiford, Riley Williams, and Grant Regule won the boys 200-medley relay with a time of 1:37.58. The Tigers swept this race on the boys side, one of four sweeps on the night.

Two North Allegheny winners in the 200 freestyle races, with Claire Bacu 1:55.64 and Mason Shantz 1:50.87 finishing first.

Gus Miller 2:02.31 won the boys 200-yard IM with Mott taking the girls 50 free at 25.16.

Ogden 1:00.30 and Nicholas Klein 55.12 were the winners in the 100 fly events, with Sens 54.30 and Seiford 50.31 taking the 100 free races.

Mott and Regule won the distance races, with respective times of 5:14.98 and 5:02.78 in the 500 free events.

There two more wins for North Allegheny in the 200 free relays. For the girls, Bacu, Sens, Madden Woycheck and Ogden at 140.85 and on the boys side, Danny Lesinski, Miller, Jake Rechenmacher, and Shantz posting a 1:30.06.

First-place winners for the Tigers were as follows:

Hinkson 1:02.24 and Gao 53.08 in the girls and boys 100-back. Klein with a time of 1:06.16 in the boys 100 breast. And in the last two events, Mott, Ogden, Hinkson and Bacu 3:43.50 and Regule, Lesinski, Caden Currykosky and Miller 3:18.82 taking the 400 free relays.

Pine-Richland had two winners in points races. Sarah Shaffer 2:08.81 took the girls 200 IM while Reece Rupert 22.20 won the boys 50 free for the Rams. Freshman Bree Arthur also swam well for Pine-Richland with a pair of second place finishes in the girls 100 and 200 free events.

The Wright Automotive Players of the Meet honors were awarded to Greta Mott and junior Nick Klein.

Mott, the George Mason bound senior, was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team and 400-free relay teams, she won the 50 free event and set a personal best in the 500 free.

In addition to singing a spectacular version of the National Anthem with freshman Ryan Crane, Klein won the 100 fly and set a lifetime best in the 100-breaststroke.

North Allegheny is on the road Thursday, February 1st at Seneca Valley before returning for their final home meet of the season, Thursday February 8th vs. Mars. That meet will be carried live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
