Tigers fall to Norwin in 9 innings in WPIAL Quarterfinals
North Allegheny traveled to Fox Chapel High School to battle the Norwin Knights in the WPIAL Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon. It was tightly contested throughout and it took more than seven innings to decide but the Tigers ultimately fell to Norwin, 2-1, in nine innings.
The starting pitchers looked strong early as Norwin pitcher Abbie Telli and North Allegheny starter Sammy Plotsko silenced the bats through the first four innings. In the fifth, Norwin got an RBI single from Madelyn Kugler to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. North Allegheny responded in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Condiotte led the inning off with a walk, got sacrificed to second by Avelyn Kropf and scored on a two-out RBI single by McKenna Rowlands to tie the score 1-1.
Seven innings were not enough as the battle continued into the ninth inning. In the top of the ninth, Norwin’s Miley Harrison came through with an RBI double to put the Knights back in front, 2-1. The Tigers went down in order in the bottom of the ninth and ultimately fell 2-1.
Plotsko went all nine innings allowing two runs on eight hits. She struck out six hitters.
North Allegheny’s season ends with a 13-8 record. Congratulations to head coach Bill Aguliga and the entire North Allegheny softball team for another outstanding season in 2025.
