
Jack Bertram wins 3 gold medals at WPIAL Individual Finals; Tigers claim 4 total
North Allegheny traveled to Slippery Rock University on Wednesday afternoon to take part in the WPIAL Track & Field Individual Finals. The Tigers claimed four total gold medals. Jack Bertram won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter while also being the anchor on the 4×800-meter relay team that took home gold. Other members of the relay team were Greg Abel, Sebastian Klimchak and Wyatt Case. For the girls, Taylor Neese was a gold medalist in the shot put.
These were not the only Tigers that performed well on the day. For the boys, the 4×100-meter relay that included Conor McNeely, Greg Gedman, Rocco Martino and Nicholas Humphries broke the school record that had stood since 1979 on their way to a fourth-place finish. Zach Nash took home sixth-place in the 400-meter dash. Abel came in fifth in the 800-meter run while the NA 4×400-meter relay of Nash, Brady Brinkley, Grey Lowman and Matthew Eisenreich came in fifth-place as well. Jack Yatchenko took home the bronze medal in the shot put and came in fifth in the discus. Dylan Langdon was the silver medalist in the high jump. Humphries came in third in the long jump.
On the girls side, the North Allegheny 4×800-meter relay of Kendall Lucas, Mary Lucas, Elizabeth Pizon and Gabriela Pizon took home bronze. Isabella Costa was the silver medalist in the 400-meter dash while Maya Currie came in eighth. Lucas finished eighth in the 800-meter run while the NA 4×400-meter relay team of Costa, Currie, E. Pizon and K. Lucas came in third. Along with Neese winning the shot put, Audrey Maxwell finished sixth in the shot put and second in the discus. Emma Neese was sixth in the javelin while Amara Daugherty finished eighth. Costa tied for fourth in the high jump and claimed bronze in the long jump while Lindsay Breneman was fourth in the pole vault.

North Allegheny will travel to Shippensburg University next week on May 23-24 to take part in the PIAA Individual Championships to wrap up the season.
