Tigers knock out Knights, 7-0
North Allegheny traveled to Norwin High School to battle the Knights in a Section 1-3A matchup. Coming off of a 10-1 win over Hempfield, the Tigers kept the momentum going with a 7-0 victory over Norwin on Monday night.
Neither team could really get anything going in the first quarter until the Tigers broke through with 1:48 left in the opening frame when Gia Gross scored off a Kaylee Volk assist to give NA the 1-0 lead after a quarter. North Allegheny exploded in the second quarter getting goals from Devia Gross, Volk and Addison Burns to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Burns scored the next two goals with 3:55 remaining in the third quarter and 11:11 left in the fourth, to expand the Tiger lead to 6-0. Gia Gross capped the scoring to give NA the 7-0 win.
Grace Zahorchak got the shutout in net.
North Allegheny improves to 2-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in section play. Norwin falls to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the section. The Tigers return to action Thursday when they host Peters Township on the NAI Turf at 7:30 p.m.
