Five Tigers Named WPIAL Field Hockey All-Stars

The North Allegheny field hockey team had five members named to the WPIAL Field Hockey Class 3A All-Star team, with three of them being named to the All-WPIAL team. The WPIAL Field Hockey Coaches Association released the all-star teams on Friday.
Senior defenders Emi Barreiro and Fiola Ragan, along with junior forward Addison Burns, earned All-Star laurels. The trio were also named to the All-WPIAL team. Junior Alexa Volk and sophomore Cailyn Graham were named Honorable Mention players on defense.
Burns is making her third appearance on the All-WPIAL and All-Star teams after another productive season, leading the team with 12 goals. A major highlight of the year for Burns was scoring the game-tying goal against Mt. Lebanon in the WPIAL Semifinals.
Barreiro has made the All-Star team for the second year in a row, while attaining All-WPIAL status for the first time.
This is the first All-Star selection for Ragan, who also plays girls’ lacrosse in the spring for the Tigers. Volk and Graham were also named to the Honorable Mention team for the first time.
The Tigers reached the WPIAL Championship this season, finishing runners-up to Pine-Richland.
