NA sets pool records at State College Invitational

We remember what we accomplished last year and strive to be even greater this year. And so, the North Allegheny Swimming & Diving team immediately set the tone, breaking pool records with Danny Lesinski in the 100 Back and the Boys 200 Free Relay both putting their names on the wall. Congratulations!! An amazing 44 WPIAL cuts were also clocked including six freshmen – Logan O’Keefe, Annie Elliott, Peter Ross, Coco Wood, Landon Bolen, and Noah Cochrane.
Cruising to victory, the NA Girls took first place with the winning team of Dani Hinkson, Tori, Tieppo, Claire Bacu, and Madden Woycheck with a time of 1:48.64. In a photo finish, the NA Boys finished second place in the medley relay with the team of Lesinski, Emmanuel Chu, Alex Harbauch, and Zachary Totin with a 1:35.01.
For the 200 Freestyle, top NA Girls went second, seventh, and eighth place. NA’s fastest was Julia Tengowski with a blazing 1:47.82. The NA Boys went second, fifth, sixth, and 12th place. The boys’ Dylan Seiford crushed our fastest time with a personal best of 1:44.89.
In the 200 IM, the NA Girls won the gold along with a third, sixth, and 13th place finish. NA Girls winning swimmer was Hinkson with a 2:09.81. The NA Boys grabbed third, sixth, ninth, and 12th place. The boys best time and his personal was Jackson Ross, who swam a 1:58.22.
Sprinting the 50 Freestyle, the NA Girls posted third, sixth, ninth, and 11th place finishes. The Tigers’ fastest girl, Woycheck posted a blazing 24.18. Elliott clocked a personal best 25.17. The NA Boys dominated with first, second, ninth, and 13th place finishes. NA’s winner was Totin with a time of 21.43.
The 100 Butterfly had the NA Girls placing first, sixth, seventh, and 11th. NA’s winner was Eva Odgen with a time of 58.35. The boys grabbed fourth, fifth, eighth, and 11th place. NA’s fastest was Lesinski with a 51.74.
On fire again, in the 100 Freestyle, the NA Girls grabbed first, fifth, ninth and 10th place. NA Girls winner, Tengowski, rocked a personal best 53.53. The NA Boys took second, eighth, 10th, and 12th place. The Tigers’ fastest was Mason Shantz with a personal best 48.35.
Going the distance, the 500 Freestyle saw NA Girls come in first, fifth, and sixth place. NA’s winning swimmer was Bacu posting a 5:04.63. The NA Boys had an impressive second, third, and seventh place finish. The Boys’ Max Thirkell was North Allegheny’s fastest with a personal best, 4:59.36.
The 200 Free Relay saw NA Girls score second place. The team of Ogden, Woycheck, Evey Masztak, and Bacu swam a 1:37.83. The NA Boys won making history with Totin, Hsu, Shantz, and Harbaugh breaking the pool record lighting up an amazing 1:25.01.
In the 100 Backstroke, the NA girls took third, eighth, 10th, and 11th. NA’s top finisher was Hinkson with the time of 59.04. The NA Boys won grabbing first, fourth, seventh, and 11th PL. The Tiger winner and record setter was Lesinski with an impressive 50.06.
For the 100 Breaststroke, the NA girls took second, fourth, seventh, and 12th place. NA Girls top finisher was Eva Zilinski with a time of 1:09.69. The NA boys took second, fifth, 10th, and 12th place. North Allegheny’s top finisher was Chu with a time of 59.51. Caden Hollenbeck posted a personal best 1:06.90.
Wrapping up with the 400 Freestyle Relay, the NA Girls took the silver medal. The Tigers’ top finishing team consisted of Bacu, Tengowski, Hinkson, and Ogden with a time of 3:33.50. The NA Boys won again. The first-place team of Harbaugh, Seiford, Lesinski, and Totin clocked a time of 3:08.35.
The Tigers return to action on Monday when they travel to Fox Chapel to take on the Foxes at 4 p.m.
