Swimming & Diving stays unbeaten with sweep of Mt. Lebanon
North Allegheny traveled to Mt. Lebanon High School on Thursday night to battle the Blue Devils in a non-section contest. The Tigers broke two pool records en route to the NA boys winning 109-71 while the NA girls were victorious beating Mt. Lebanon 105-70.
In diving, Maggie Lapina (295.90) and Lola Hood (186.90) took the first two spots while the NA boys swept the podium with Anthony Farrah (330.75), Ethan Maravich (281.50) and Colin Metzger (201.05)
North Allegheny claimed first place in both 200-yard medley relays. For the girls, Julia Tengowski, Eva Zilinski, Eva Ogden and Claire Bacu finished with a time of 1:46.82. On the boys side, Danny Lesinski, Emmanuel Chu, Mason Shantz and Odin Hsu took first place posting a 1:34.37.
In the 200 free, Dani Hinkson (1:55.87) placed first while Syndey DeHainaut came in third with a time of 2:04.39 for the girls. The boys saw Jackson Ross (1:43.98) and Dylan Seiford (1:45.05) come in second and third.
The North Allegheny girls took the top three spots in the 200 IM with Shelby Sundgren (2:11.64), Ogden (2:15.91) and Evey Masztak (2:16.61) placing first through third. The boys placed second and third with Lesinski (1:54.24) and Brendan Yatchenko (1:57.50) claiming those spots.
Bacu took first in the 50 free with a time of 24.28 while Madden Woycheck (24.32) finished in second. Zachary Totin won the 50 free for the boys with a time of 21.38. Shantz finished third at 21.75.
Bacu took her second individual win of the night in the 100 butterfly for the girls with a time of 59.02. Natalie Reubi (59.52) and Angelina Li (59.91) placed second and third. Shantz took first place on the boys side in 50.33 while Totin (51.56) was the third-place finisher.
In the 100 free, the NA girls finished one and two with Tengowski (53.88) and Kate Dudro (55.68). The boys also claimed the top two spots as Dylan Seiford (47.48) was the winner and Alex Harbaugh (47.60) placed runner-up.
The top three spots were taken by the North Allegheny girls in the 500 free as Hinkson (5:12.69) won the event with Lorelai Quinet (5:32.14) and Annie Elliott (5:32.52) taking second the third. For the boys, Jackson Ross (4:48.16) and Peter Ross (4:49.24) finished in the top two spots.
It was another team sweep in the 200 free relay. The girls team of Woycheck, Bacu, Masztak and Ogden posted a 1:37.20 in their win while the boys team of Hsu, Totin, Harbaugh and Shantz finished in 1:25.31, which was a pool record.
The NA boys swept the 100 backstroke as Lesinski set a pool record with a time of 49.76. Yatchenko (54.13) and Ryan Crane (56.67) finished second and third to complete the sweep of the podium.

Both North Allegheny teams improve to 4-0 overall. That wraps up the 2025 portion of the swimming and diving season as the Tigers return to action on Saturday, January 3, 2026 when they travel to Bucknell University to participate in the New Year’s Challenge.
