Track & Field sweep opener over North Hills & Shaler

North Allegheny traveled to North Hills High School to take part in a tri-meet against the Indians and the Shaler Titans. Both Tiger teams performed well as the girls defeated North Hills, 117-32 and Shaler, 121-28. The boys followed suit beating North Hills, 92-57 and Shaler, 136-14.

For the girls, Lindsay Breneman was the top finisher in the 100-meter dash, she finished in third overall. Blake Slotsky placed second in the 200-meter dash while Madeleine Jablonski won the 400-meter dash. Lily Ries claimed the 800 and 1600-meter runs and Juliet Forrest won the 3200-meter run. Lola Hood took first place in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles while North Allegheny’s 4×100 and 4×800-meter relays both finished in first. Eva Pesci (high jump) and Avery Ruffus (long jump and triple jump) won the jumping events with Breneman winning the pole vault. Audrey Maxwell claimed the discus event and came in the second in the shot put while Emma Neese took home third in the javelin.

For the boys, Caden Petro finished sixth-place in the 100-meter dash. Sam Cohn was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash while Matthew Eisenreich won the 400-meter dash. Wyatt Case finished first in the 800-meter run with Gatik Hirwani winning the 1600 and 3200-meter run. Cohn won first-place in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. The NA 4×100 and 4×800-meter relay teams both claimed gold. Aidan D’Errico finished second in the high jump and Carter Thomas was runner-up in the long jump but finished first in the triple jump. Evan Dickert won pole vault, Charles Gibson claimed the discus, Callan Bunger finished first in the javelin and Colin Sefick was second in the shot put.

The Tigers have the week off before returning to action next Monday, March 30 when they travel to Butler to take on the Golden Tornado. The meet is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m.
