By Randy Gore
In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL Class 3A championship, the North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team once again defeated rival Seneca Valley, 3-0, to extend its winning streak to six to open the 2026 season. In the Section 1-3A matchup, the Tigers prevailed in three sets, 25-18, 25-23, and 25-12.
In a tightly contested first set, North Allegheny led 15-14 before pulling away down the stretch for a 25-18 victory. Senior Brendan Moore helped power the Tigers with five kills and a block in set one, and finished with 10 kills, three blocks and an ace to garner Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.
A far different chapter was written in set two, with the Tigers jumping out to a 16-9 lead before the Raiders chipped away and ultimately tied the game at 23-23. Undaunted, NA brushed off Seneca Valley’s late rally with back-to-back kills from senior Will Robertson for a 25-23 victory. Robertson totaled a team-high 12 kills and added four digs.
While set two was a narrow victory, the third and final set was a landslide victory for the Tigers as the black and gold cruised to a 25-12 triumph. NA ended the night on a 7-0 run and capped the victory with an ace from Moore.
Other key contributors to the win included senior Peter Bratich with a team-high seven blocks to go along with eight kills. Senior Nathan May delivered eight kills and a pair of blocks. On defense, senior libero Emmett Morris totaled 13 digs, while setters Elliot Swierczynski and Jackson Failla tallied 14 and 12 assists, respectively.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Section 1-3A. Seneca Valley slips to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Tigers look to extend their winning streak on Tuesday with a visit to Moon.
