NA gets back in win column with 8-0 win over Hempfield
North Allegheny traveled to Hempfield High School to take on the Spartans in a Section 1-3A matchup on Tuesday night. After a tight first half, the Tigers exploded in the third quarter, to pull away from the Spartans by a score of 8-0.
Grace Gavran broke the ice with 1:20 left in the first quarter to give NA a 1-0 lead assisted by Kaylee Volk, a lead they would take into halftime.
In the third quarter, Davia Gross scored assisted by Addison Burns to make the score 2-0. Volk got on the board herself assisted by Reagan Hall and the Tigers led 3-0. Davia Gross added another one assisted by Burns to give North Allegheny a 4-0 lead. Burns got the next two goals and the lead expanded to 6-0 before Volk got the final goal of the period on a Burns assisted to lead 7-0 going into the fourth quarter.
Davia Gross completed the hat trick in the fourth quarter and the Tigers claimed the 8-0 win. The NA defense did not allow Hempfield to get a shot on goal all night.
North Allegheny improves to 4-4-1 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Tigers return to action on Thursday when they host the Pine-Richland Rams at Newman Stadium at 7 p.m. This game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
