Tigers Advance to WPIAL Team Finals for the fourth straight year
by: Boys Golf Contributor
The North Allegheny Tigers traveled to Indian Run Golf Club for the WPIAL semifinal round, where they faced a challenging field and a difficult test of golf. Players competed in individual foursomes alongside golfers from the other seven teams participating, navigating lightning-fast greens and challenging winds gusting at more than 15 mph.
Freshman Jake Hendrick delivered an outstanding performance and earned Low Medalist Recognition, leading all WPIAL golfers at Indian Run with a three-under-par 68. His impressive round helped propel the Tigers to a team total of 377, tying West Allegheny for second place. Central Catholic edged both teams with a 376, just one stroke ahead of North Allegheny.
With the strong team performance, the Tigers are headed back to the WPIAL Team Finals next Tuesday at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon!
North Allegheny will face another formidable challenge against Central Catholic, West Allegheny, Fox Chapel, Peters Township, and Kiski Area. The winner next week will advance to the PIAA Team Tournament at Penn State on October 21.
