Two seniors from the North Allegheny swimming & diving team signed their letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level. Senior swimmer Lexi Sundgren (Duquesne University) and senior diver Christina Shi (Harvard University) both inked their LOI’s on Monday.

Both athletes played a pivotal role in North Allegheny’s WPIAL championship in 2021 and third-place finish at states. Sundgren took first place at the WPIAL finals in the 200 Free and was part of the NA quartet that won gold in the 200 Free Relay. Additionally, Sundgren won WPIAL gold in the 500 Free. At the PIAA finals, Sundgren claimed fourth place in the 200 Free and helped the 200 Free Relay to a sixth-place showing. On the final day at states, Sundgren took second place in the 500 Free and set a new North Allegheny record with a time of 4:51.80.

Equally as impressive, Shi has won three consecutive WPIAL Class AAA diving championships and two straight PIAA diving titles. Shi is one of only six student-athletes to win three consecutive WPIAL gold medals in diving. Shi also owns the North Allegheny pool and school record in diving.

Sundgren will major in Physician Assistant studies at Duquesne University. Shi is planning to major in Economics.
