The North Allegheny boys’ tennis team opened PIAA team tournament play by downing the Landisville Hempfield Black Knights, 5-0, on Tuesday.

The brother-brother combination of senior Adithya Ramadas Guptha and sophomore Adhav Ramadas got the Tigers on the board first with a dominant victory at second doubles, 6-2, 6-1. Shortly thereafter, freshman Advaita Sircar doubled the lead by taking down last year’s fourth-place PIAA Singles medalist in convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-3. The clinching point of the match once again came off of the racquet of senior Trey Davidson at second singles, 6-3, 6-2.

Finishing off the singles sweep was sophomore Evan Kaufman who downed his opponent at number three, 6-1, 6-4. Finally, junior Sri Thirumala and freshman Shivum Telang assured the shutout with a 6-1, 6-4 win at first doubles.

The Tigers improve to 17-0 on the season and will now head to Hershey for a PIAA Quarterfinal match. The team will take on the Unionville/Abington Heights winner on Friday at 12:30 PM.
