Tigers sweep Singles and Doubles to claim PIAA Triple Crown
by: Boys Tennis Contributor
There are 351 PIAA schools that fielded a boys’ tennis team in 2026, and then there are the North Allegheny Tigers. In early March, the team set out with a mission, that is, to make history and to “Dominate the State.” Following Saturday’s PIAA Singles and Doubles Championships, the mission was accomplished. After last week’s Team Championship, several players returned to Hershey on a quest to win more gold medals. The Tigers would not be denied and won both the singles and doubles titles to take the PIAA Triple Crown.
In the doubles tournament, the team of junior Ashwin Sudhakar and senior Matthew Kampi opened play on Friday morning with a solid performance over a talented Wilson team, winning 7-5, 6-4. In the afternoon, the tandem squared off against Conestoga, the team the Tigers bested in the PIAA Team Championship. After a sluggish first set, Sudhakar and Kampi rebounded to dominate the final two sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
On Saturday morning, Sudhakar and Kampi faced off against a Hershey team that had a bit of a home court advantage. Undeterred, the duo won the semifinal in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-3. This set up a gold medal match with a Pennsbury team supported by a raucous fan base. Sudhakar and Kampi started off strong and silenced the crowd with a 6-1 first set. The second set was a see-saw affair that saw Pennsbury get an early break. The Tigers battled back, got a break of their own, and forced a tiebreaker. Normally a breaker ends at seven points, but that was not enough to decide this match. As the teams traded incredible shot making amongst high drama, NA finally prevailed 10-8 to take the match, 6-1, 7-6 (8). In capturing their first individual gold medals, Sudhakar and Kampi became the first North Allegheny players to win the Doubles Championship since 2015.
Turning to the singles tournament, NA had two entrants in the bracket. Senior standout Evan Kaufman took down McDowell’s top player in the first round, 6-4, 6-4. Unfortunately, he fell in the quarterfinals in a hard-fought battle to Conestoga’s first singles player, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-1. The loss ends the stellar high school career of the Tigers’ captain, but great things lie ahead for the Case Western Reserve commit.
Junior captain Advaita Sircar crushed the best JP McCaskey had to offer in the first round, 6-3, 6-0. He then took on the District 1 runner-up from Council Rock South in quarterfinals. There again, Sircar would easily advance, 6-3, 6-4. In the semifinals, the Tiger netter spent the early part of the first set feeling out Landisville Hempfield’s top singles player before putting his foot on the gas to cruise, 6-3, 6-2.
Last year, Sircar lost the Championship in a well-contested match with Daniel Boone’s Chase Gerloff. This year, the uber-talented Navy commit would leave no doubt as to who is Pennsylvania’s top high school tennis player. Sircar used a combination of powerful serves, suffocating groundstrokes, and blistering passing shots to overwhelm Conestoga’s best player, 6-0, 6-0. The shutout is the first of its kind in the history of the AAA division of the PIAA Singles Championships which dates back to 1942. The Tigers star becomes the first NA player to win singles gold in exactly 50 years as he equals Tom Liebenguth’s accomplishment from 1976. Congratulations, Advaita, on your truly historic achievement!
The North Allegheny Boys Tennis Team set lofty goals this season. In the end, they checked all the boxes. The team won section, WPIAL, and PIAA titles and individual players earned section, WPIAL, and PIAA Championships in both singles and doubles. The PIAA Triple Crown is the first by any school from Western Pennsylvania and only the second in state history by any team. This season goes down not only as the best in NA’s own illustrious history, but as the most dominant performance in PIAA history as well. The Tigers met their goal to “DOMINATE THE STATE”.

NA conquers Conestoga, wins third PIAA Championship
by: Boys Tennis Contributor
The North Allegheny Boys’ Tennis Team faced a daunting task on Saturday when they took on the three-time defending State Champions, Conestoga Pioneers, in the PIAA Final. The talk around Hershey all weekend and on social media was whether Conestoga had a “4-Peat Loading”. The Tigers made sure the sought after “4-Peat” failed to launch as the “Best in the West” took down the “Beast of the East” to DOMINATE THE STATE. The “underdog” NA team was loud and proud as they routed the defending champs, 3-1 to win their third PIAA Title and first since 2009. In doing so, the Tigers amassed a perfect 21-0 record for only the third undefeated season in program history.
Early on in the match, Conestoga seemed to have all the momentum as their fans and team were quite raucous. However, midway through the first sets, the tide began to turn, and the Tigers stole their thunder. Leading the way for the Tigers, as he so often does, was the exceptionally talented junior captain, Advaita Sircar as he demolished Ethan Sun at first singles, 6-1, 6-0. Sircar, playing against some of the top players in the state, amazingly only dropped three total games in the four State playoff matches in which he played. His tremendous performance over the weekend earned him Man of the Tournament honors in a unanimous vote. Captain Evan Kaufman doubled the lead almost immediately as he trounced Sean Fan at second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Playing in his final high school dual match, the senior standout proved why he is the undisputed heart and soul of the Tigers.
Conestoga cut the lead in half as they took first doubles, 6-0, 6-3. Senior captain Adhav Ramadas and fellow senior Matthew Kampi battled back in the second set but dropped a difficult decision to Jake Tsang and Leo Brown. Ramadas completes his stellar Tiger career as the only NA netter to play in four straight WPIAL and PIAA Team Championships. Junior Ashwin Sudhakar got off to a bit of a slow start for him but was rallying and clearly on his way to victory against Tristan Lubiniecki at second singles, 3-6, 6-0, 0-1 when the team match was decided.
For the third straight contest in Hershey, the clinching point came at second doubles. Juniors Ronit Ginde and Shivum Telang provided the winning point as they dominated Jake Duffy and Will Connelly, 6-2, 6-2. Ginde, playing with two different partners in the four PIAA playoff matches was the stalwart at second doubles. Meanwhile, Telang had himself quite the weekend. On Friday, he won a prestigious ISEF award in Phoenix, Arizona, hopped on a late-night flight to Pittsburgh, and drove overnight to Hershey to join his teammates for the final two matches of the season. In both instances, Telang and teammate Ginde netted the contest winning point for North Allegheny earning the tandem Men of the Match honors.
The Tigers ended an unprecedented run for District I teams as they became the first team to win the PIAA Championship from another district since 2014. The 2026 team joins the 2005 and 2009 teams coached by John Woffington, Head Coach Matt Woffington’s father, as the only Team Champions in NA’s illustrious tennis history.
The Tigers have collected quite a bit of hardware already in this historic season. NA players have won WPIAL silver in singles (Kaufman), WPIAL gold in singles (Sircar), WPIAL gold in doubles (Sudhakar and Kampi), WPIAL gold as a team, and now PIAA gold as a team. However, there is still some unfinished business as four players will travel back to Hershey to compete in individual competition next week. Sircar and Kaufman will compete in the PIAA Singles Championships while Sudhakar and Kampi will play in the PIAA Doubles Championships.

Tigers take down Unionville, advance to PIAA Championships
by: Boys Tennis Contributor
Last year, the North Allegheny Boys’ Tennis Team was eliminated from the PIAA State Playoffs by Unionville in the quarterfinals in a 3-2 heartbreaker. This year, the Tigers left no doubt as to who would be advancing to the PIAA Championship Match by blanking the Longhorns, 3-0.
Leading the way for NA was junior captain Advaita Sircar who demolished his first singles opponent, 6-1, 6-0 to put the Tigers on the board first. Almost immediately, junior standout Ashwin Sudhakar doubled the lead by trouncing his second singles foe, 6-1, 6-0. The convincing win earned Sudhakar Man of the Match honors. The three remaining matches were a bit more competitive as fans and teammates wondered who would get the clinching point.
Juniors Ronit Ginde and Shivum Telang decided enough was enough and finished off their second doubles adversaries, 6-2, 6-4. Telang, fresh off a red-eye flight from Phoenix, Arizona proved that even sleep deprivation and cross-country travel couldn’t keep him from helping the Tigers advance to the Championship. Senior captain Evan Kaufman was surely on his way to victory before his third singles match was called at 6-4, 5-2. Similarly, fellow senior captain Adhav Ramadas and senior Matthew Kampi’s first doubles match was stopped in progress, 6-7 (5), 1-2.
Next up, the Tigers will play in the PIAA Championship against three-time defending state champion Conestoga. Match time is set for 4:00 PM at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Tigers pummel Patriots, advance to PIAA Semifinals
by: Boys Tennis Contributor
The North Allegheny Boys’ Tennis team continued their march through the PIAA playoffs by taking down the Patriots of Central Bucks East, 3-0. The win puts NA in the PIAA semifinals for the second time in the past three years.
The Tigers, feeling somewhat disrespected by their low seed in the draw, took out their aggressions on CBE by dominating singles play. Leading the way for NA was junior captain Advaita Sircar who methodically dispatched his first singles opponent, 6-1, 6-0. Junior Ashwin Sudhakar, displaying some interesting fashion sense, quickly doubled the lead with a similar thrashing of his second singles opponent, 6-1, 6-1. The clinching point of the match came off the rackets of juniors Ronit Ginde and Siddarth Yerram as they vanquished their second doubles opponents, 7-6 (5), 6-1. The pair have quickly jelled to earn them Men of the Match honors.
With the win assured, the two remaining matches did not finish though they undoubtedly would have been NA victories. Senior captain Evan Kaufman was shellacking his third singles adversary, 6-4, 5-1 when CBE waived the white flag. At the same time, senior captain Adhav Ramadas and senior Matthew Kampi were about to start the third set at second doubles, 6-0, 6-7 (5).
Next up, the Tigers will look for revenge against the team who eliminated them last year in the semifinals, the Longhorns of Unionville. Match time is set for 10:00 AM at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Tigers down Dallastown in PIAA First Round
by: Boys Tennis Contributor
The NA Boys’ Tennis team opened up the PIAA playoffs with a 4-0 blanking of Dallastown at nearby Shaler. While the Wildcats had to travel halfway across the state, the Tigers had what was essentially a home match and quickly made the most of the advantage.
The all-junior team of Ronit Ginde and Siddarth Yerram jumped all over their second doubles adversaries to stake the Tigers to the lead, 6-1, 6-0. The complete domination earned the pair Men of the Match honors. Junior captain Advaita Sircar doubled the lead with an equally impressive performance at first singles, 6-0, 6-0. With victory nearly assured, everyone wondered who would get the clinching point. Senior captain Evan Kaufman, who narrowly missed a chance to clinch the WPIAL Championship, would not make the same mistake twice. He finished off his Wildcat foe at third singles 6-2, 6-1 to guarantee the victory.
Junior Ashwin Sudhakar finished moments later to balloon the lead to four with a 6-1, 6-3 trouncing at second singles. Dallastown then waved the white flag. With first doubles still competing, the Wildcats wanted no more of the talented Tigers and decided to start the bus. Senior captain Adhav Ramadas and senior Matthew Kampi were on their way to making a comeback before the match was called, 2-6, 4-4.
Next up, the Tigers travel to Hershey to take on Central Bucks East in the Elite Eight of the PIAA Championships. Match time is set for Friday at 12:30 PM.
