NAT&F claims WPIAL runner-up in Boys and Girls

The North Allegheny boys and girls track & field teams traveled to West Mifflin High School to take part in the WPIAL Team Championships on Tuesday afternoon. Both Tigers teams placed second in the event behind Norwin.

Conor McNeely placed fourth in the 100-meter dash for the boys while Zach Nash was the top finisher in the 200-meter dash also placing fourth. Nash claimed runner-up in the 400-meter dash while Sebastian Klimchak had a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run. Jack Bertram claimed the 1600-meter title and the 3200-meter championship. Sam Cohn claimed the bronze medal in the 110-meter hurdles while Grey Lowman finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. NA finished third in the 4×100-meter relay and second in the 4×400-meter relay before taking the 4×800-meter relay title. Dylan Langdon won the high jump and came in third in the long jump. Nicholas Humphries was runner-up in the long jump. Carter Thomas placed third in the triple jump. Caleb Bohnenstengel claimed fifth-place in the pole vault while Jack Yatchenko was the silver medalist in the discus. Callan Bunger finished fifth in the javelin while Yatchenko won the shot put.

For the girls, Kendra Smith finished sixth in the 100-meter dash while Isabella Costa was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. Robin Kucler and Elizabeth Pizon finish two and three and in the 800-meter run while Kucler finished second in the 1600-meter run and fourth in the 3200-meter run. Lola Hood was the fifth-place finisher in the 100-meter hurdles and the fourth-place finisher in the 300-meter hurdles. North Allegheny took the 4×100-meter relay title while coming in second in the 4×400-meter relay and the 4×800-meter relay. Lydia Randiga tied for fourth in the high jump while Lindsay Breneman was runner-up in the long jump and sixth place in the triple jump. Breneman took home gold in the pole vault. Audrey Maxwell and Dereon Alualu were first and second respectively in the discus while NA took the top three spots in javelin with Emma Neese (first), Anna Fiffik (second) and Amara Daugherty (third). Taylor Neese and Audrey Maxwell finished top two in the shot put.

That concludes the team part of the season for North Allegheny track & field. The Tigers will be back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Slippery Rock University to compete in the WPIAL Individual Championships.

Track and Field Competes At 51st Baldwin Invitational

The North Allegheny Track and Field team participated at the Baldwin Invitational on Friday. The boys team took home first place overall with 95 team points. The girls finished in second place overall with 73 team points.

The girls and boys had multiple top-three finishes.

In boys action, first-place finishes included seniors Zach Nash (400-meter dash), Greg Abel (800-meter run) Dylan Langdon (High Jump.) The 4×100-meter relay team also took home top rankings. Junior Sam Cohn (300-meter hurdles) and senior Nicholas Humphries (Long Jump) each had second-place finishes. Third-place finishes included Nash (200-meter dash), senior Grey Lowman (300-meter hurdles) and Jack Yatchenko (Boys Discus and Shot Put.)

In girls action, first-place finishers included senior Isabella Costa (400-meter dash) and junior Audrey Maxell (Girls Discus.) Junior Taylor Neese (Girls Shot Put) finished in second place. Juniors Maya Currie (400-meter dash) and Elinor Handel (Girls 3,200 Meter Run) each finished in third place in their respective events.

NA Boys win Robert Morris Invitational; Girls place fourth

North Allegheny traveled to the Island Sports Center on the campus of Robert Morris University to take part in the Robert Morris Invitational. A day after both teams advanced to the WPIAL Team Championships, the Tigers put together another strong performance with the boys winning the team title and the girls placing fourth in team score.

For the boys, Ethan Ouyang finished third in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash. He was the top Tiger finisher in both events. Henry Davis placed fourth in the 400-meter dash while Brennan Kaminski was a fifth-place finisher in the 800-meter run. Jack Pfeiffer claimed third in the 1600-meter run while Sam Patterson and Nathan Hou went one and two in the 3200-meter run. James Hetherington took home bronze in the 110-meter hurdles while Nate Witherell finished runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles. The North Allegheny relay teams placed second in the 4×100-meter and third in the 4×400-meter relays. Isaac Pokorny tied for fifth in the high jump while Graham Kunz was fifth in the long jump. Gabriel Betancourt was the top NA finisher in the triple jump coming in sixth place. Charles Gibson placed fourth in the discus while Bobby James came in 10th in the javelin. Colin Sefick claimed seventh in the shot put.

On the girls side, Myla Benoit came in ninth in the 100-meter dash and 10th in the 200-meter dash. Mackenzie Abbs won the 400-meter dash while Ally Grabowski finished fourth in the 800-meter run. Gabriela Pizon and Abby Gordish came in second and third in the 1600-meter run. Addison Pavely was the seventh-place finisher in the 100-meter hurdles while she took bronze in the 300-meter hurdles. Ciara Prunty and Molly Sump both tied for eighth-place in the high jump. Mia Jones was 10th in the long jump while Caroline Remensky placed seventh in the triple jump. Sinya Divekar came in seventh-place in the discus. Lillian Daugherty was eighth in the javelin while Divekar put a third-place performance together in the shot put.

NA Boys & Girls both qualify for WPIAL Team Championships

North Allegheny hosted the WPIAL Track & Field Team Semifinals on both the boys and girls side on Wednesday afternoon at Newman Stadium. Both Tigers teams finished in first place, qualifying them for the WPIAL Team Championships. The boys defeated Knoch, 118-32, Baldwin, 133-17 and New Castle, 137-13. On the girls side, the Tigers took down Hempfield, 84.5-65.5, Upper St. Clair, 101-48, Knoch, 112-38 and Blackhawk, 127-23.

For the boys, Rocco Martino finished runner-up in the 100-meter dash while Sam Cohn and Conor McNeely placed second

and third in the 200-meter dash. Zach Nash and Brady Brinkley were the top two finisher in the 400-meter dash while the Tigers claimed the top three spots in the 800-meter run with Greg Abel, Wyatt Case and Sebastian Klimchak taking first, second and third respectively. Jack Bertram claimed the 1600-meter run title while Andrew Leigh, Jackson Beemer and Jack Curren were the top three finishers in the 3200-meter run. Cohn claimed gold in the 110-meter hurdles while Grey Lowman and Ryan Mahoney were second and third in the 300-meter hurdles. North Allegheny swept the relays and had the top three finishers in the high jump in Dylan Langdon, Aidan D’Errico and Caden Petro. The long jump was more of the same with Nicholas Humphries winning the event with Langdon and Graham Kunz right behind him. Evan Dickert won the pole vault while Jack Yatchenko was runner-up in the discus. Callan Bunger won the javelin while Yatchenko took gold in the shot put.

On the girls side, Kendra Smith placed second in the 100-meter dash while Isabella Costa was the 200-meter champion, setting the school-record in the process. Maya Currie claimed the 400-meter dash title while Elizabeth Pizon and Mary Lucas were second and third in the 800-meter run. Robin Kucler won the 1600-meter run while her sister Wren Kucler claimed the 3200-meter title. Lola Hood was the bronze medalist in the 300-meter hurdle while the Tigers came in third in the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays. North Allegheny took the 4×800-meter relay title. Costa finished third in the high jump while Lindsay Breneman claimed the pole vault title. Audrey Maxwell won discus and Emma Neese and Anna Fiffik were second and third in javelin. Neese won the shot put event.

Both teams qualify for the WPIAL Team Championships that will take place at West Mifflin High School on Tuesday, May 6 at 3 p.m. The boys will battle Norwin, Butler and Mt. Lebanon while the girls will face off with Norwin, Butler and South Fayette.

Tigers compete at Butler 9/10 Invitational

The freshmen and sophomores on the North Allegheny track & field team traveled to Butler High School to compete in the Butler 9/10 Invitational.

For the boys, Rocco Martino had a third place finish in the 100-meter dash and a fourth place finish in the 200-meter dash, the top Tiger in both events. Matthew Eisenreich was the silver medalist in the 400-meter dash. Nathan Wach finished sixth in the 800-meter run. Jack Pfeiffer had a fifth place finish in the 1600-meter run. Sam Patterson took runner-up in the 3200-meter run. The North Allegheny 4×100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay teams came in second place while the 4×800-meter relay took home gold. Caden Petro was third in the high jump while Rocco Colaizzi finished ninth in the long jump. Carter Thomas finished the day fifth in the triple jump and Evan Dickert tied for fifth in the pole vault. Nolan Orlando took home the discus title.

On the girls side, Kendra Smith finished fourth in the 100-meter dash. Molly Robertson was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash while Mackenzie Abbs finished third in the 400-meter dash. Mary Lucas claimed the 800-meter title while Gabriela Pizon won bronze in the 1600-meter run. Leila Nocera finished seventh in the 3200-meter run. Lola Hood was third in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles. The North Allegheny 4×100-meter relay finished in third while they won the 4×800-meter relay. Josephine Lesinski claimed sixth place in the high jump while Luana Tripon ended up fifth in the long jump. Amara Daugherty won the javelin.

North Allegheny as a team, returns to action on Tuesday when both the boys and girls play host in the WPIAL Team Semifinals. The boys will be battling New Castle, Knoch and Baldwin while the girls take on Blackhawk, Knoch, Hempfield and Upper St. Clair. The meet begins at 3 p.m. at Newman Stadium.

NAT&F claim section titles as they roll in tri-meet

North Allegheny hosted both Pine-Richland and Fox Chapel at Newman Stadium on Tuesday afternoon in section play. The meets were not all that competitive as the Tigers rolled to victories over both the Rams and Foxes on the boys and girls side. The girls defeated Pine-Richland 110-40 and Fox Chapel 103-47 while the boys dismantled the Rams 125-25 and the Foxes 145-5.

On the boys side, Rocco Martino was the top finisher for NA in the 100-meter dash coming in second-place with Greg Gedman right behind him. Zach Nash and Gedman finished two and three in the 200-meter dash. Brady Brinkley claimed gold in the 400-meter dash with Nash finishing runner-up. The Tigers took the top three spots in the 800-meter run with Sebastian Klimchak (first), Wyatt Case (second) and Greg Abel (third) dominating the race. Jack Bertram kept his outstanding spring going taking first in the 1600-meter run with Anthony Miklos finishing second. Andrew Peigh, Jackson Beemer and Jack Curren were the top three finishers in the 3200-meter run. Sam Cohn won the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. The Tigers swept the relays winning the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800. Dylan Langdon claimed the high jump title with Aidan D’Errico coming in third. Nicholas Humphries was the top Tiger in the long jump coming in second. Carter Thomas took silver in the triple jump with Colton Bradshaw taking bronze. Caleb Bohnenstengel came in third in the pole vault. Jack Yatchenko claimed the discus and shot put titles while Callan Bunger won the javelin as NA took the top six spots in that event.

For the girls, Isabella Costa won the 100-meter, the 800-meter and the high jump. Molly Robertson claimed the 200-meter dash title with Lydia Randiga .08 seconds behind her. Maya Currie was the 400-meter dash winner while Kendall Lucas was runner-up. Wren Kucler claimed first place in the 1600-meter run. Camille Swirsding was the top NA finisher in the 3200-meter run claiming silver. Lola Hood was the fourth place finisher in the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. North Allegheny came in third in the 4×100-meter relay but won the 4×400 and 4×800-meter relays. Lindsay Breneman claimed two gold medals as she won the long jump and the pole vault. Currie was the bronze medalist in the triple jump. NA claimed the top four places in the discus as Audrey Maxwell, Taylor Neese, Saniya Divekar and Dereon Alualu finished first through fourth respectively. Anna Fiffik claimed runner-up in javelin while Neese won the shot put title.

Both the NA boys and girls finish section play with a perfect 6-0 record. The younger Tigers will compete on Thursday in the Butler 9/10 invite before the full squad competes in the WPIAL Team Semifinals next Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.

Tigers place top 10 at Butler Invitational

The North Allegheny track & field teams headed to Butler, PA on Thursday to take part in the 60th annual Butler Invitational. Both teams finished in the top 10 as the girls ended up with a sixth place finish while the boys took home fifth. Norwin won the team title on the girls side while Quaker Valley claimed gold on the boys side.

On the boys side, Brady Brinkley took home the bronze medal in the 400-meter dash. Greg Abel was a sixth place finisher in the 800-meter run while Jack Bertram took home gold in the 1600-meter run and the One Mile Run. Dylan Langdon came in fourth in the high jump while Aidan D’Errico finished seventh. Jack Yatchenko finished top 10 in the discus while Dylan Bobak-Rouce was 10th in the javelin. Yatchenko also finished fourth in the shot put.

For the girls, the North Allegheny 4×400-meter relay team took home gold. Lindsay Breneman kept her strong spring going with a runner-up finish in the pole vault. Audrey Maxwell was the silver medalist in the discus and Anna Fiffik finished in ninth place in the javelin.

Tigers sweep at Seneca Valley

North Allegheny traveled to Seneca Valley to take on the Raiders in a section matchup on Thursday afternoon. Both meets were very competitive but the Tigers came away with both wins as the boys won 77-73 and the girls were victorious by a score of 79-71.

On the boys side, in the relays, the Tigers claimed wins in the 4x100m and the 4x800m. Rocco Martino was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 100-meter dash finishing in third. Ryan Mahoney and Sam Cohn placed second and third in the 110-meter hurdles. Zach Nash and Conor McNeely took silver and bronze in the 200-meter dash. Grey Lowman won the 300-meter hurdles. Nash and Brady Brinkley finished in second and third in the 400-meter dash. Greg Abel claimed the 800-meter title while Anthony Miklos came in second and Sebastian Klimchak came in third in the 1600-meter. Jackson Beemer and Tyler Davis were the top NA finishers in the 3200-meter. Jack Yatchenko won the discus while Dylan Langdon claimed the high jump title. Nicholas Humphries took the long jump title.

For the girls, NA won the 4×800-meter relay. Isabella Costa won the 100-meter dash while Maya Currie took gold in the 200-meter and the 400-meter dashes. Lola Hood was the top finisher for NA taking third in the 300-meter hurdles. Kendall Lucas claimed the title in the 800-meter. The Tigers took the top three spots in the 1600-meter with Elizabeth Pizon winning the event. Camille Swirsding was the winner of the 3200-meter run. Taylor Neese won the discus and shot put while Costa claimed the high jump and long jump title to win three events on the day.  Lindsay Breneman came in second in the triple jump.

Both Tigers teams are now 4-0 overall and in the section. North Allegheny returns to action today when they travel to Butler, PA to take part in the historic Butler Invitational.

Jack Bertram breaks school record at Arcadia Invitational

North Allegheny senior Jack Bertram participated in the nationally renowned Arcadia Invitational in Arcadia, California over the weekend. Bertram put a great race together and broke the school record in the 3200-meter run.

Bertram came in eighth in the event with a time of 8:47.76. He beat the previous North Allegheny record by eight seconds. The 3200-meter record was previously held by Matt McGoey who ran a 8:56.43 in 2015.

Bertram and North Allegheny will be heading to Seneca Valley this afternoon to take on the Raiders in a section meet at 4 p.m.

NA competes at TSTCA Outdoor Championships

A day after competing at the Wildcat/Spartan Invitational, the North Allegheny girls and boys track and field teams traveled to West Mifflin High School to take part in the TSTCA Outdoor Championships.

For the boys, the North Allegheny 4×800 relay team finished in sixth place and Colton Bradshaw had a ninth place finish in the high jump. Matthew Eisenreich had a 14th place finish in the 400-meter dash while the NA 4×400-meter relay came in 12th. Charles Gibson finished in 20th in the triple jump. On the girls side, the Tiger 4×800 relay team finished in 13th while Josephine Lesinski was a 19th place finisher in the high jump.
