5 NAFH players named WPIAL Class 3A All-Stars; 3 tabbed All-WPIAL

The North Allegheny field hockey team had five members named to the WPIAL Field Hockey Class 3A All-Star team with three of them being named to the All-WPIAL team. The WPIAL Field Hockey Coaches Association released the all-star teams on Sunday.

Junior Emi Barreiro as a defender, senior Mia Brinkley as a midfielder, sophomore Addison Burns as a forward and senior Kayla Joyce as the goalkeeper all made first-team. Josie Schomburg made the honorable mention list as a forward. Burns, Brinkley and Joyce were also named to the All-WPIAL team.

Burns, Brinkley and Joyce are all making their second appearance on the WPIAL All-Star team. Burns led the team in scoring this year netting 14 goals. Brinkley finished second on the team in goals with 11, she had the game-winning goal in the Tigers win over Fox Chapel this season.

Joyce is a Northwestern commit, she had six shutouts on the season with her season-high in saves being 38 against Cumberland Valley. Joyce also surpassed 500 career saves this season on September 26, when the Tigers faced off with Pine-Richland.

Brinkley and Joyce are making their second appearance on the All-WPIAL team while Burns made All-WPIAL for the first time.

Barreiro is making her first appearance on the WPIAL All-Star team, she was very important to the North Allegheny back line this season. Schomburg is also a first-time WPIAL All-Star after netting 10 goals this season, which was good for third on the team.
