Boys Volleyball places third at First Point National Invitational
North Allegheny boys volleyball spent the weekend in Austin, Texas participating in the First Point National Invitational. First Point is an organization that is part of USA Volleyball with a mission to grow the sport of Boys Volleyball. The Tigers represented the state of Pennsylvania well against some of the country’s top teams coming in third place overall.
The Tigers went unbeaten in Pool Play on Friday defeating Arizona College Prep (AZ) (25-8, 25-19), O’Bryant (MA) (25-20, 25-20) and Shadow Ridge (NV) (25-16, 27-25) to finished in first place.
The first place finish got North Allegheny into the gold bracket on Saturday. In the quarterfinals, NA took down Boilingbrook 25-20, 25-13. The Tigers were tripped up in the semifinals against Windward (CA) 26-24, 25-22. North Allegheny would bounce back in the bronze medal match to beat Shadow Ridge 25-22, 26-24 to finish the weekend in third-place.
Will Robertson led North Allegheny offensively for the tournament with 60 kills. He also had six blocks, five aces and 30 digs. Brendan Moore had 40 kills, seven blocks and 11 aces. Peter Bratich added 19 kills and 10 blocks. Nathan May chipped in 18 kills. Luke Conlon had three blocks at the net. Elliot Swierczynski dished out 63 assists. He also had six aces and 19 digs. Emmett Morris had 32 digs while Nicholas DiPrato had 18. Jackson Failla helped out with 48 assists.

North Allegheny returns to action today when they host Moon in their section opener at 7 p.m. This match will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
